Par has a reasonably good chance of getting a job in the near future, but her potential employer has asked for evidence of her 'right to work'.
They have included a list of documents she can supply, most only being relevant to EEA nationals. Only a couple seem to be possible for Par. 1/ A passport showing that you are a british citizen or have the right to live in the UK. 2/ A passport or other document issued by the home office which has an endorsement stating that you have a current right of residence in the UK as the family member of a national from a EEA country or Switzerland. my thoughts 1/ does she actually have the right to live in the UK or is that only the case after she gets ILR Am i making this more complicated than it actually is ?, or does Par actually have a right to work ? my head hurts Par entered the UK May 2005 on a 2 year spouses visa |

Par has the right to live in the UK and has the right to work. Showing the employer her passport with visa in should do.

Should imagine her passport complete with sv would suffice. If she had a vv then i think it would be endorsed "not allowed to work"

just checked her passport and, as you suggested, there is nothing stating not allowed to work.
i hope this is suffice, but i tend to worry about nothing when anything concerning Par and officialdom come together. I am sure i am not the only one !!! |

Any visa that does not allow the holder to work will be endorsed "Employment Prohibited."
And yes, holding a settlement visa does mean she is a UK resident and has the right to live here until the visa expires. Then she gets FLR or ILR, whichever is appropriate. |
