Hello all,
Today I just have bad news about my job... guesst what's?
I just get redundant, regarding to re-oganize business system and concern to my admin job and my job will exfect next 4 weeks, and next week I will lose my own hours from 39 to 20 to give to new person that she will take over all admin's job... ( she walk away from her own branch because have less hours then my branch ) but I'm still smilling because I know when one door closes and another one will open... I like to think they have lose me and not the other way around, so now "Black Gull" will spread her wings to fly to a new job ( i still don't know what that job will belong to me!!) Shrug Razzer

When I know that I will have redundant, one thing I have to tell myself that, don't cry... I am not a little girl to rolling on the floor and screaming to try to get my job back... but I think today not the end of the world...today I'm fall but tomorrow I will know how to get up and keep walking... ( dave said I did very well, he would cry for me )

I not blame company that they make me redundant, but I just feel pity my manager that he use his personal decition because he is saperate the color of skin...I shouldn't say that if he don't said to me " Why I don't go to apply the job in laundry " ... Argue Bah! Mad that doesn't mean I think that working in the laundry is beneath me, but it was what he was implying with the statment. I didn't tell Dave because I thought it would upset him and at the same time he didn't tell me about the managers statement, about what he thought Thai woman were good for!!!!( his words were when in Rome )

I was work for him for 6 months he should of been able to recognise that I was intelligent not stupid, this manager spend most of his time a sleep... so how would he know ???

Anyway... I am a Black Gull... I will keep strong and fly away to new place that i would stay... not give up and cry like little girl...

Thank you for who ever have read my post that I was released from my deep inside and make me feel better otherwise tomorrow I may not strong enough to stand on my job till finish in this position....

Kob...

Good luck looking for another job, as you say "when one door closes and another one will open" an interesting and very old quotation that my Grandmother used to say to me whenever I had a problem like this, and she was always right. When I look back at my career the jobs that I lost were going nowehere and I hated them, I just couldn't see it at the time. Now I am the one with the company, I am the one who employees the staff, no one can tell me what to do now or make me redundant!

Good luck

Black Gull,

That is the correct philosophy and it sounds like a lot has come out in the open regarding the redundancy that makes you better off not working for people like that!

I hope you get a proper redundancy package and step straight into a better job. You should be offered assistance with things like CV preparation and Interview skills whilst you are serving your notice and sites like jobserve and fish4jobs could be useful for keeping an eye on opportunities around your area.

You expressed an interest in the Brighton meet this weekend, if you could make it then you are more than welcome and it might help take the sting out of your news.

Good Luck, Ian.

Black Gull,

I very much admire your optimism, and wish you the best of luck in the future.

But I am concerned by what you have said about your managers attitude toward you. It seems that he has made insulting remarks to you and is favouring this other woman over you because you are Thai!

This is not only racist, it is illegal!

Have a look at Making a complaint against your employer from the Commission for Racial Equality.

Kob, I am concerned by the way your employer appears to have treated you - not about the redundancy, but the way you appear to have been abused.

The link Nick has referred to you may find very helpful. I would make an appointment to visit your local Citizens Advice Bureau ("CAB") for advice. You may very well have a claim against your employer for what can only be described as disgusting and insulting racially motivated behaviour.

Employers are NOT allowed to treat their employees in this way - even those whose jobs are redundant!

Whatever you chose to do, good luck to you.

Kob,I too am concerned with the apparant abuse.
Whilst I wish you every success in finding alternativec work soon, you should arrange to see the CAB as Tobias says,or even a solicitor specialising in employment law. It may well be free and the CAB will certainly be.

Dear all ,

Thank you for your all warm hugs...I feel now I'm not alone I have friends and you are always open arms to comfort to me, and cheer me up, and you have very great guide for me to go forward to do something to that manager.

I will continue to report him about his statment, that 's not for me, but I want to let him know about the dignity of Thai women, he can't put his foot on us....

I will come to Brighton on Sunday ( just have day off after start reduce my hours ), Dave is working so he can't come, but I very feel that I would like to see and meet you all, I will come by train and this is first journey for me to travel out side Eastbourne alone, Please give me some detail where I can meet you all in Brighton on Sunday and I don't know Brighton Shrug I just went there once last year with Dave...

In my life I always have difficult time on my jobs as my responsibility and always re-ogranizes, but I never have redundancy before, this is an experince that I will know how to deal with... This time I have to hug myself ( Dave always did for me Big Grin,) and cheer me up ( before my job have to comforted to my staffs )

Can't wait to see you on Sunday.

Kob ( Still Black Gull )

Hi all,
Thank you for all your information and sheer me up, I’m sorry that I didn’t responds in your replies, was busy and plan to do for my new life is unemployed… and I have little confuse for myself and not sure what I should do, then I just keep quiet and didn’t take response, but I always read all your replies.

Regarding to the CAB at the end I have no take action even Dave he always push to go forward, but if I following that role, would be concern to the company and may be he also have effect for this situation because he also work in this company and I have nothing to do with the company. This is just only unprofessional management from some little managers in the branch…and they have the just from staffs that also feel unfair to me even some person that closer with them (staying in same bed).

Dave has rung to the HR department and they took as serious, but at the end also quiet because young manager have big power but no experience, then I decision to stop to ahead with this situation.

I am a Buddhism I believe the karma, and then I just let anything effect by the karma as goes around comes around. And I found the wonderful after I drop all problems in my case, I have found myself free and relaxed… you may laugh or annoys that I do nothing to hurt them back. I just note from my colleagues that the managers that they had make me redundancy some of them may have sake from company, and some of them have difficult with there own kids and all of them have heat feeling from staffs… that should make me go ahead for my new life, and start hunting the job, don’t look back.

Now I have sent too many applications to the companies by e-mail, online, post and hand to hand, I just coma back from the town, just finish to past my CV to the shops in the town even they don’t have adversities for the vacancy jobs, Dave always with me and sheer me and give me energy to do that… we just turn back home and I have report to you all for my update. I still smile and not give up and tomorrow we will go to the town and give my CV to the balance that we still not give to them…

I also apply the job in London ( I am still in Eastbourne) if I get the job in London, I will take it, because all application that I sent to them are my skill job, live in hope that one of them will look at me and take action… fingers cross.

Sorry my reply little long, but this is my update…and again thank you for everyone that always have good guide for me and I feel warm from your kind and I always think that you all are my brothers and sisters hood.

Will tell update next time.

Kob Smiler

That's excellent news Kob, I am really pleased for you.

P.S. It's still not too late to pursue your last employer, it won't hurt to take advice from the CAB or a solicitor.

Kob,

Congratulations! Hope you get a nice redundancy payment too Thumbs Up I know you think it might cause problems for your husband, if you progress a claim, as he still works for the company, but don't let them mess you around otherwise there may be a little bit of "okay we got away with that, what next" and your husband could be in the firing line anyway! Sorry, that sounds a bit downbeat, but well done and good luck with the new job, deserved I would say Banana
