Surima, for nursing in the UK I think you need an IELTS score of 7.0 or better ... good luck getting that.

But why a delay taking the IELTS?

Also have you been in touch with any local hospitals asking if any are prepared to offer you the needed mentoring? Subject to you get the needed IELTS score.

In the meantime, until you get your IELTS result, given your standard of English, what sort of work are you looking for? You say not in a hospital .... but where would be OK for you?

Finally, your visa? You have a spouse visa? If only a fiancée visa at the moment you are not yet allowed to work.

Hi John,

Thank you for your prompt reply.I have got a spouse visa.I used to work as a health care assistant.I have just moved to Apsley but I would like to have experinces out side the hospital.

I would like to work in a shop but they always ask for experinces and also i saw that a lot of europeans work there.Do I have a chance to do this kind of job or to work anywhere else?

Thank you.

I think that there are always opertunities to work in shops, and in the uk the best ones to try are tesco lotus, if there if one in your are. Otherwise try Asda.

It always depends on your persistance. Try try again. But I would recommend that nursing is far more lucrative than working in a shop and it is a very good way of meeting other people.

Khun Surima,
If you like to work in the shop rather than in hospital (the place that not too many people have the chance to work there) I don't think any people can't work there not just the Erupean people, I was work in the shop before... yes they asking for the experinces, but not mean they won't give a chance to whoever want to be there... they just look at the personal character, at the shop almost servise and you have to communicate with the customers...

I'm not say you don't have servise mind, but the problem about us is the communicate... our accent that's difficult to made them understand and that concern to the communicate to the customers...

If you very want to work in the shop, you may try to start looking that the charity shop, they may take you, but in the charity shop, I'm not sure that they have pay, but I'm sure you will have experiance from them... good luck.

Anyway I still agree with John's post as

"In the meantime, until you get your IELTS result, given your standard of English,"

.... that's such a goos idea...I'm not mean you English not good, but I mean we are not good in Standard English... and that our problem to do anything and not much successful.

Kob

Hi Kob,

I do agree with your idea.I took IELTS.I got 6.5 scores in the general module (so I can be a nurse) but the NMC in UK has just changed so now I need to pass the Academic module(6.5 ) instead.I will take my exam again soon but I want to try something different at a moment.Thank you for reminding me that I should work in a hospital because it is not too many people in Thailand that can do it in the UK.

Thaks,

surima

Surima, well done getting the IELTS 6.5. Hope you do well when you take the Academic module.

My wife Nat took the academic IELTS and got a score of 6.5. That was to enable her to get on to a Masters Degree course here in Birmingham. She started that last month.

I see you live in Apsley ... near Hemel Hempstead ... so probably a bit too far for you ... but at Aston University here in Birmingham they do a one-week intensive course in IELTS exam technique ... Monday to Friday ... and then on the Saturday you actually take the IELTS exam there. That one-week course proved to be very helpful to Nat in ensuring she got the mark she required.

Is there any such short course down your way?

Just to let you know that I have got a job as a healthcare assistant at the Royal Free Hospital in London. Persistance pays.

Yes there is, I took a one week intensive course in the academic IELTS exam technique at International House in London, highly recommended. I will take the exam again soon.

you need to be working somewhere to improve your english(functional learning), have you thought about voluntary work, very often you will find that if an organisation can see you and what you can do then getting a job will be easier, also try the employment agencies, they often need temporary staff
