Hi Everyone,
I sometimes need to do some work when staying at my wifes village outside Udon Thani ( own business = 24hr on call! ). I need fast reliable internet access and somewhere quiet to work for a few hours in the day. Does anyone know of a temporary "business centre" type operation that would rent a small office or room with facilities by the hour or day in Udon Thani? I'm not keen on the usual internet cafes etc as they are not a viable working environment. I cannot get a decent connection at home ( we are 25km from Udon ) so that's not an option. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks, John |

John,
Just an idea that the "Irish Clock" Hotel would be an option if you can't find a business centre, they are close to Robinsons and had free wireless broadband internet when I was there last, about 850baht for a room might be cheaper than a business centre too. Would need to have a portable with wireless networking though. |

Thanks IanB, that's a good idea. Hotels sometimes do cheaper day rates as well so I think I will investigate that when I visit soon. I have a wireless laptop so no problem there.

It is a very nice (small) hotel too and great owners who also bought the Udon Cafe and bakery (another hotel too), very good food and accomodation.

Hi John
As you have looked at the possible connection options , can you let me know what the options are. Our house is between Udon Thani and Kohn Kean and I am interested in getting some form of broadband, ideally a 24-7 connection. Thanks dkcr |

Dkcr, we are in Ban Nadi and we don't have access to a land line yet so I was using my mobile with GPRS. This has proved to be unreliable and slow. Ash, I will look into satellite broadband, generally this requires a phone line or other connection for the upstream transfers and also can be an expensive option for my occasional use. I will check with udonmap for more options.
Many thanks to all for the help. |
