if you mean me then after over 100 visits I know enough to know I don't know everything about thailand and I suggest that you have the guts to post your details on the forum then maybe you won't come across as such a complete waste of space.

Ok I am at a loss but just by your comments Im sorry but think you are wrong for one reason in particular like me you live in Thai so learn the Thai way, take the middle road and certainly put revenge out of the way that IS NOT the Thai way. Let others have their say they have a right to their opinions. Mai pbendrai and it realy dont.

TJ,

The bungalow sits on 114 drang wah or about 440 square yards.
( Please everybody with their slide rules out, I did say about )

The Bungalow and carport takes most of the land amd since we have just this week roofed in and walled the space between the back of the place and the back boundry wall to make a long thin laundry room it covers even more of the land. Cost of that was 500 quid for everything. There is a small garden (hah ! Have you tried digging Isaan soil in the middle of the dry season? A JCB would give up) down both sides and at the front.

After more than four years living here with just one month's UK holiday in that time I still know two thirds of nothing about Thailand and how they think. Especially the drivers.

Good informative thread.

We are considering buying some land or a house soon, maybe around Sing Buri.

Any one know of the aprox cost of land or houses in that part of Thailand ?

Cheers

Hi We have moved to Rayong where the land and houses are still reasonable and we are on the beach.I think it's a place worth visiting.

However, getting your hands on any building land anywhere near a beach seems to be a completely different matter. We looked round a very nice 3-bed bungalow (new)on one of the estates up the hill from Pattaya on the same visit, but that was 3.6million baht, and those estates feel like ghettos to me

That price is far to high in my opinion for the plot unless it was completely leveled and even then. Just bought a plot of 400m2 for £1000 which is completely raised in a village outside khon kaen and that was overpaid (but next to the plot already owned so more interesting) as it could have been had for 750 if not someone else was also interested.

For 30000 ypu should be able to build a nice home in the issan region

Last time I was in Pattaya I bought a book in one of the bookshops in the royal garden plaza on the beach road. Book is called 'How To Buy Land And Build A House In Thailand' by an american called Philip Bryce. ISBN No. 1-887521-71-2. It details the authors story of building a house, with all sorts of details, Thai phrases and generally how to go about things - I think it's an invaluable book to get you up to speed on the trials and tribulations in LOS

Where is your evidence of "standard farang overpricing" when buying property in Thailand?
