Ok people,
I don't know where i have heard this , and maybe I am wrong , But, I hopefully will start building our house later this year or perhaps next year, and am I correct in assuming that I (falang) will have not be allowed on the Blue Tabian Bahn, and that I have to get a yellow one ? If this is the case is it just a quick visit to either the land office or Amphur to get one ? Cheers I'm there Bryn |

Hi Bryn & Mot,
The Tambien Bahn is a registration of where one lives. The "Bue Book" is the normal registration document for a Thai person. If you are an immigrant who lives in Thailand and you have the correct type visa indicating this, well you can also apply for a Tambien Bahn registration document. If you are successful (and it is not simple, remember Thailand is a bureaucratic country.......lots and lots of paperwork), well you as a foreigner get issued a "yellow book." That is basically a brief explanation of the terminology. Hope this helps......RayBan The sun always shines in LOS |

Hi Suds, If you wish to purchase a car in your own name you will need the Farang Tambien Bahn (yellow book). Obtaining this book is a very worthwhile objective if you are residing in Thailand, as it opens many doors. As I mentioned in a previous post on this thread, Thailand is a bureaucratic country and this registration book is one step away from having Residency and in many cases like holding a mini Thai passport. A non- imm "O" can be 90 days or 1 year, it is the annual one that you will probably need. Otherwise the rule of thumb is to get attested by the B.Emb. every legal document you possess in relation to being attached to Thailand, marriage license, driving license, passport, visa, etc. You then have to get that all legally translated into Thai. The translations then have all to be affirmed by a governmentally recognised agency. You then go to your local Amphur with your pile of doc's and see what is not acceptable, or what is missing and go from there. It took me 3 attempts with a wad of paperwork an inch thick. But perseverence and patience are the magic words of the day. A nice smile, a good paperback in your back pocket and a "mai pen rai" go a lot further than any indications of anger and frustration. Best of luck..............RayBan The sun always shines in LOS |
