At long last...![]() |
Bit of long shot this, but you never know....
Don't know how many of you are sparkies out there or in the electrical trade.. Was just out of interest trying to see what if any jobs there are for industrial / commercial electricians out in LOS? (nothing to do with the fact that I'm getting pretty sick of this country All I can seem to find are vacancies for engineers or above ? Something along the lines of the construction of Suvarnabhumi Airport would have been ideal or even a big hotel / high rise build in BKK.... I'm under the impression that quite a bit of this work must get sub'd out to big western firms Sy n Su |

I'd be surprised if this wasn't a trade that is denied access to farangs?

Did already give that a go.... but couldn't find anything specific to commercial / industrial... mainly just engineering jobs in the electrical field or on the oil/gas rigs/plants. Which I am not qualified enough to work on.... shame really cause wouldn't mind getting on some oil and gas work Sy n Su |

Sy,
I work in the office on the commercial side for a major national M&E contractor. (Not bragging by the way! I think most major projects are done by Japanese companies although some large civls were by Italians and Belgians. If you've any info on Engineers jobs I'd appreciate a link but I'm sorry I can't return the favour. |

Hi Noel....
Your probably right , but we can keep dreaming I just remember seeing a program on TV whilst in LOS few years ago, about the construction of Suvarnabhumi Airport and there were a lot of western tradesmen working on it... money must have been pretty good for them to come all that way. But suppose those jobs are few and far between. Here's a link I found anyway Sy n Su |

Hello Sy Just an idea that is something of a compromise. I have friends who are in similar situations to yourself and have the same mind set, they work in such places as India,China Etc., They work for periods upto two months and then return to LOS for a similar time. Their tax is offshore and their flights usually paid for by the companies that they work for. Most of these jobs are gained through agencies in the UK or Europe and they never seem to be out of work. Hope this helps Regards Harvey |

Harvey...
Just wondering, is that is off shore rig work ?? Do keep looking into it, but the situation seems to be unless you already have experience of that sort of work or you maybe 'know' someone out there, then you don't stand much of a chance ... You never know might be lucky enough one day, I'll just keep trying. Sy n Su |

If you're serious about this then there's a guy in Pattaya who I'm sure a few folks on here know who, possibly, could help. If anyone knows a guy called Ricky who works in the Oil biz, mainly in Indonesia, he used to frequent Cats (Kitten Club) in Soi Pattayaland 2. Then if there's a way of getting Sy in contact with him, then can they try. |

I know of a couple of Sparkies who work around the world and spend there free time in Thailand, have property etc over there Might be worth contacting light and staging people who set up gigs around the world this is the sort of work the people I know do and neither of them live in the UK. They treat Thailand as their home working 3-6 months contracts at a time. |
