Hi Bryn, Cilla isn't such a soft name for your dog if you pronounce it correctly (seelar) in Thai it means rock/granite/tough according to "she who must be obeyed".

Weather today hot and sunny again, Off to Mervyns in a minute to sample his maids English breakfasts.
Just called the Amphur and my yellow Tabien bahn is ready for collection.
So come you bright sparks, What benefit doe's having a Tabien bahn bring? cos I have no idea.

It is indeed pronounced Seelar, and I didn't know that it meant tough, hard as nails, etc.

Actually I have never called her by her name,(cilla) I just can't bring my self to say it, But I whistle her to come, Thai's NEVER whistle their dogs,(Why is that ?)So when I whistle she knows its me, even if I can't see her.
I also can't bring myself to shout the "oh oh oh oh oh oh " which means come here, and if you repeat it faster, whilst clapping your hands, means there are people or other dogs about, and the dogs stand to attention, and see off the would be intruder. LOL LOL
These things I love about Thailand, but I just can't do it, not yet anyway, but I do give her commands in Thai.
Not that she listens all the time, must be a pronounciation thing.
Anyway must dash breakfast at 10, and I am gonna be late, soz Merv, I am on my way.

Ok, Weather today hot again, I am missing the cold, BTW, how cold is it UK ? Razzer

We are going to plant some spring onion later this week, apparently they don't take long to grow, and at the minute they cost 1 baht for 1 spring onion on the market Eeker
Just going to plant a few rows, to see what happens, got to order about 50 bails of rice straw to keep the weeds from coming through and to provide a bit of moisture retention.

Chillies are ready to be planted, these will be going in next week, along with "colillander " Smiler
Collilander is a seed, so you just scatter the seed once the chillies have been planted and bob's your uncle.
Going to order loads of sweetcorn and plant 4 rai of it, returns should be about, 6/7000 baht per rai and takes around 4 months from seed to harvest. So we should have a busy week next week.

What are your in laws/ parents currently growing in LOS ?
Trying to find out if there are other things I should be planting to get bigger profits per rai.

Planted some of them tall cocnut trees, you know, the really tall ones, planted some around the lake, should look nice in a few years.
Anyway, got to go and order some bits and bobs for the farm.
See ya

Those tall coconut trees watch out for the wind falls - no joke they go down with a thud - all sounds good though but what about getting that extra lake dug out before you go back to UK it will be bigger for me to fish Smiler

Actually Dan, It's the same here at night, the temp difference is so great here between night/day that We too fight for the duvet, actually we have not used a fan, night or day since mid November! Now wheres my hot chocolate and slippers.?

Ok today weather looks like its gonna be hot.
Yesterday 56 bails of straw turned up late afternoon.
Then it all started, corriander seed scattered, straw bedding covered them and the chillies started to be planted, I was still planting at 6.30 pm. My back hurts, so I ain't gonna plant to many today, just gonna make sure that they are planted neatly.Theres about 3 rai to go in, Not sure if we have enough chillies to cover the 3 rai but we'll see. Got 500kgs of drying Garlic and soon these are going to dressed nice for market, and sold. They aren't dried out enough yet.
Chickens are doing well, with minimal deaths over the last week or so.Also they look very very big for the 24 days old that they are, and also have a good mix of males, about 50%,these are typically heavier than a female, and give us more weight per bird, more weight per bird = more profit.
Well gonna have my frosties, and head down the farm.
Cheers

The ones that look like dog droppings hanging on trees (don't know name) but they taste ok and sell well apparantly as Dao is going to LOS in April to fix the harvest (her idea as I have no idea about harvest times)

Keep the updates going Bryn and maybe Singapore GP meet up Thumbs Up

Colin the fruit you refer to is macarm as it is called localy or tamarind as it is known in the west Phetchabun in the world largest supplier of this fruit in the world and the new crop is being harvested any time from a month ago to three months hence it just hangs on the trees Smiler

Weather today is hot again,
Off into town shortly to get a few supplies, and to take my camera in for repair, sorry not many pics just now, untill Mervyn gets here with his camera Wink

I can't find any spring onion seed in Phetchabun! I am desperate to plant this stuff, gonna have a good look in town shortly, also used my last 3 slices if bread last night, Ham,vintage cheddar, dijon, and home made pickled onions,
What a sarnie that was, mmmmmm.!

Planted quite a lot of chillies yesterday, well, I tell a lie, I didn't, but family are lovely aren't they,Well when you need them they are Big Grin

Also need to order some more corriander seed and plant along side the chillies.

Did a spot of fishing yesterday, raw chicken for bait certainly attracts the big cat fish, but its dirty stinky stuff, and makes me pull one of them (this is a dirty hobby) type of faces, you know the one, face all scrunched up whilst putting the bait on the hook, believe me it stinks to high Heaven.

Had a few Leo's last night, Enough for a good kip Wink
Running low on them too, So I will order a couple of boxes whilst in Town 415 baht per box, gone up a bit recently, think its cos of fuel price increases.
Anyways, I will report back later, sleep well everybody, except Mervyn, He should be up by now.
