Hello. This is a really technical one.

First question - did other people buying a Thai keyboard get it up and running on their Windows XP computer easily? Did you have to insert the Windows CDRom to load the drivers?

I've just bought a Thai keyboard from DCO and although I have Windows XP, I can't get the language bar up or even get the keyboard to type in Thai fonts. I've followed the instructions on this site and I can only think that I'm missing something because the setup instructions seem to be based on Windows 98 computer and therefore the process is different. I've found where to add languages for your keyboard (control panel/date,time,language/regional/languages:details/add) but it's telling me that Windows could not properly load the thai keyboard layout....

Help!

Hello cxgcxg

The setup for Windows XP is fairly straight forward. Follow the step-by-step instructions here:

Windows XP and Thai Language Support

Perhaps you were following the wrong instructions? The instructions linked above are specifically for Windows XP. DO NOT follow the instructions given elsewhere on the site for Windows 95/98. Once set up, XP handles Thai fonts, software and keyboards better than any previous western version of Windows.

What are you using to view the email? Outlook Express? Hotmail via the web? Thunderbird?

The answer varies depending on which one, but generally speaking you need to play around with different Character Encodings to read the email.

Have a look through these topics, they'll hopefully guide you through how to do it:

Thai emails

Thai Characters on English Web Pages

A-ha... I didn't see the XP installation instructions. I'll give it a try when I'm back at home and hopefully it will work ok this time.

Thanks for you help.

Can you believe that I can't find my Windows XP home edition CD-Rom...

Is there anywhere on the net that I can get these installation files from? This is turning into a real pain!

Cheers
