How can my wife play her Thai CD's on my Hifi?

1/ press open.
2/ insert cd.
3/ press play.
4/ adjust volume.

Are they originals? Presumably not as there shouldn't be a problem.. They are more likely to be CD-R copies so you would need a player that is compatible with these, older systems probably aren't. Most cheap (20 quid or less) DVD players will handle these so buy one of those and plug it in to your amp. If they are MP3 compilations you'll need to burn off separate CD-Rs or get an MP3 compatible player.

Are they cd's or vcd's because a vcd probably wont play in your stereo.

I guess that they are vcd's then as none will play.

Hi i don't know how computer lit you are but if you do a google search you will get advice on how to turn vcd to wav files and what software to use you can then burn the wav to cd and that should play ok on your stereo.

If they are VCDs and you have a DVD player try playing them in that.

How to turn a VCD to a CD

1) Download Virtualdub Release build - 1.6.19 (This software is free).

2) Insert VCD into the DVD / CD Drive.

3) From the Virtualdub dropdown 'file' tab and click on open video file, then highlight the track you want to record to WAV. Virtualdub then reads this file. If you then press play on the virtualdub player the video will play.

4) Once this is done, from the same dropdown 'file' menu choose the 'Save WAV' option (make sure you know where you are saving it to).

5) Track is now saved as a WAV file.

6) Repeat for the rest of the tracks.

7) Burn the compilation to a CD and this can now be played on any CD player.

Note....

8) The recorded tracks will need a trim, in that there will be a few seconds at the start of each song where on the VCD the title of the song would be displayed before the song began. These tracks can easily be trimmed with another piece of free software called audacity.
