Can someone help, my partner has a Nokia mobile bought here in the UK, but to make life easier , would love to have the phone language in Thai. I seem to recall a couple of years ago, someone we knew got the Thai language downloaded onto their phone somewhere in London.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this, or any other idea about how to get Thai onto a phone over here ? Otherwise I guess I will wait until our next trip to LOS in April.

Hi JT. Welcome to the forum.

There are a few shops in Chinatown that can do a language flash for a Nokia. One on Gerrard Street called Fifth Media ( here) and another one is on Little Newport Street (IIRC) next to a dark green bakery.

It only cost me a fiver last time.

Just out of interest, what model of Nokia is it?

Cheers,
Packpao

JT, do you have a data cable for that mobile phone? To connect the phone to your computer?

If you have you can no doubt achieve the download you want without going anywhere. And also generally update the software on the phone etc etc.

To do it yourself, you'll need

1. Cable
2. Language packs (thai pack not so easy to come across)
3. Flashing software
4. Quite a bit of time devoted to learning how to do it so you don't fry your phone.

There's some info about Nokia DCT-3 phones here. The DCT-4's tend to be a little more complex.

Good luck son!

I would say the first place to look is on the website of the manufacturer of that particular phone. See what you can find there.

Hi

The flash files can be found on google but the loader/flashing software is a different matter. It is very easy to "fry" your phone, even with the right stuff.
On some models it is possible to change only the language pack but again you need a "flasher" to do it.
Remember if you want to use Thai you will have to find a Thai keypad, not so easy in the UK, I know I've tried

Hi

if anyone needs a Nokia phone language pack - i will do it for forum members ( once )FREE OF CHARGE - in other words i don't want to be swamped with thousands of phones to be send back to relatives in thailand. You will need to PM me and pay the postal charges back to yourselves or enclose a Special Delivery envelope.

I am a phone engineer by trade so don't worry the phone will be in good hands.

I won't flash symbian phone's though...they can be too much trouble ( nokia 6600, 7610 etc ) PM me with what you want and i will get back to you !!

regards

Duncan

p.s . don't try this at home kids....it's not that easy without decent hardware and the best firmware files.
