Any one got a ball park cost for broadband in LOS? We have a phone line in the family home there. I was wondering what it would cost to have broadband as well. I really mis not having a decent connection on the few weeks we spend there. Maybe I could justify the expense if it enabled the outlaws to have a web cam.

Shake Hands (my boy likes the friendly one) LOL

Those ants remind me of the kitchen in LOS Roll Eyes

Hi Spud

Both TT&T (Maxnet) and TOT offer the following:

1Mbps for ฿590+VAT/month = ฿631.30
2Mbps for ฿1000+VAT/month = ฿1070.00

I think they both offer free connection and broadband router if you sign up for 12 months.

TT&T also have a budget 1Mbps service called Maxnet 299 (฿299+VAT/month). I've not looked into it but imagine it comes with a few strings attached.

I pay ฿790+VAT (฿845.30) per month for 1.5Mbps but, due to an "error" by the local engineers, I'm permanently on 2.5Mbps for that price. Amazing what a friendly smile and a cheap bottle of whiskey can sort out. Wink

You'll need to contact your local TT&T/TOT office to check availability at your location. Few areas outside the main towns/cities have broadband access.

Regards

Don't know about that but nearly every hotel room that I've ever booked in Thailand came with at least one free bug.

I did, but you squashed it and they made me pay for a replacement. Wink

LOS = Land Of Smiles (Thailand)

Never heard that before???

We had TT&T (Maxnet) for 2 years never had a problem after getting the router sorted, when we first got it.

You can browse here for a list of abbreviations etc. often used on these forums and elsewhere. 'LOS' is a widely used term in reference to Thailand, the 'Land Of Smiles'.

Check availability first before you get too excited. Is the house in an urban area or out in the sticks? If the latter you'll be lucky. That said, if the network is subscribed to capacity in any particular part of a town/city you'll get no further than putting your name on a waiting list. In some areas, especially those with growing farang populations, supply is struggling to keep up with demand.
