My Wife has been watching thai tv shows on http://www.obizgo.com/ and until recently it worked fine on our computer and then for no apparent reason just stopped working. It has never worked at all on my laptop but it still works fine on my Dad's desktop PC. All have 1mb broadband connections so I don't think that's the problem. It's probably a Windows media player issue.

Trouble is, all the instructions on the web site are in Thai, which I can't read and the wife can't translate properly so I don't know if there is anything obvious amiss.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Nick,

hi speed world has just packed up on me as well except T channel. All i getfrom the news channels (esp 9) is ready!

Maybe the the thai channels have just cottoned on how many uk computers are logging in!

I subscribed to one service for a "lifetime membership" but only got 7 days, fortunately only £16.00 but same "ready" maybe i am missing something obvious but it seems to be happening a lot.

After having no internet access at all for the last 3 days, bizarrely the Obizgo service is now working.

Maybe it was an ISP issue - I guess I'll never know. At least the Wife's happy now that she can catch up with her favourite soap.

I wonder how legitimate some of these TV streaming services are - maybe Thai TV channels search for them and take them down occasionally - a bit like the old pirate radio stations. I would imagine that as internet speeds increase and delivery systems improve the whole way in which TV is delivered world-wide will change.

No doubt the TV Channels will resist embracing new technology in the same way that the music industry is fighting a loosing battle with the file sharers and are only now waking up to the fact that they should have lead the way in the first place.

In the meantime we'll just have to live with the vagaries what's available.

Regards

I don't think they are too legit. Your monthly subscription pays for the infrasturture - the free sites tend to very flakey as there's too much demand.

However, it's certainly the way TV is going. In the not too distant future, TV will be on demand and handled over IP (Internet). None of this waiting for East Enders - you just chose what you want to watch when it suits you.

I can't wait until Mr Murdoch's BSkyB goes out of business. He's been a little slow to cotton onto the future of TV. Also, with the choice that will be available online, who will go for traditional PayTV (i.e. TV through a satellite with a subscription?)
