Would like to find out please how could anyone can use your msn online or reccorded the messages you typed or the messages you received from somebody and how could they checked your e-mail and do everythings as you did it yourself in your mail box when they know nothing about your passwords and if you have loged off every time after you used.It's just happened to me, and I wanted to know how to protect them from doing this!!what to do if that person knew my remote control password for my computor???can they do them all without touching my computor at all???
Thanks for all advices in advance.

Hi Teansri,

It sounds like you could have been infected with one of two kind of malware: -
1) Keylogger trojan - this is a piece of software records all keyboard inputs from your computer and sends them to an attacker.
2) MSN Tojan - these typically capture MSN passwords or other files on your computer. The most common method of infection is accepting an file from someone else. What normaly happens, is that one of your contacts gets infected and the trojan then sends itself to everyone on the contacts list.

Are you running up-to-date anti-virus (ie. AVG, Norton, McAfee, etc?)

My advice from now is to perform a full system scan with an anti-virus and then change all your passwords for important logins (banks, email, msn, etc)

Here's what one particular MSN Trojan looks like (in this case it's W32/Tilebot-KG ) . One of Mue's friends was injfected with one the other day. Note tha the infected party is not aware of the trojan spreading (i.e it initiates conversations and sends files in the background)

Don't accept executable files from anyone, even if you know them.

P.S. I only accepted the file for analysis purposes. I recommended that you don't accept any executable files.

Yes, there are file recovery utilities available. There are also utilities to do unrecoverable deletes.

It really depends what the Trojan is.

For example, the one I mentioned above is reported to do the following: -

* Turns off anti-virus applications
* Allows others to access the computer
* Steals information
* Drops more malware
* Downloads code from the internet
* Reduces system security
* Installs itself in the Registry
* Exploits system or software vulnerabilities
* Used in DOS attacks
* Scans network for vulnerabilities

Like the original post on this thread I seem to be also have a virus infection in my computor. It is not allowing any updates to my anti-virus. I use AVG anti-virus. I haven't got a clue how to overcome this. It seems likely to be the W32 virus mentioned by packpoa. Any advice would be a help. Can I find the virus on my computor by name and eliminate it, so I can get my virus updates again. Thanks Dave.

this is one of the reasons i left pc's behind and went for an imac.
my norton antivirus was being attacked from time to time......... a virus attacking antivirus. kind of funny.

to be honest........... the best thing to do whenever you get a virus is back up what you can and just bite the bullet and do a re-format

I'm pretty new to this. Axel, I've got nothing on my computor of any value to back up. But could you tell me exactly how I re-format. My computor came(unfortunately) with windows vista, and was already loaded with Anti virus, and various other items. PLus it was bought in Thailand where I live now. The whole thing was set up for me. I just use it.

My first reaction when I get a virus is usually to consider a total system re-format. Its the only way I can be sure that there is not something lurking inside my machine that I do not want to be there.

Windows XP re-format is fairly easy. I have never tried with vista, so this is all new to me..This site gives reasonably clear instructions for you to follow if you are feeling brave.

As good as spyware scanners are......... I prefer the peace of mind option.
