....medical restrictions. Not sure if this is the correct forum to put this but...
I've just spent the past 2 hours on the phone. I'm in a dilema but have found a temporary solution for now. My holiday was booked up months ago. Last week I was taken ill & spent 6 days in hospital. Diagnosed blood clot/accute coronary syndrome. Doc says I'm still ok to fly. The problem I encountered today was travel insurance. I had to inform my current insurance for obvious reasons...need cover for this problem incase it resurfaces on Holiday. Also for the recent diabetes. My current insurance denied me cover for those two symptoms point blank. Have tried a few others & got the same reply....but they will cover me for everything else. Also with information sharing this is not something I can now try & hide with another insurance company. So I've been in dispare really almost to the point of having to cancel my holiday which I'm due to go on in 10 days time.
As a very last resort I tried my bank...NatWest. I'm an advantage Gold card holder & have a travel insurance with them that I've never really thought about or used. Infact I only phoned them up because I paid for my holiday with their card & was questioning my chances of getting a full refund. Turns out they WILL insure me for these two problems on this ONE occasion because I booked up before these issues were diagnosed. If i could of reached down the phone & kissed the girl on the other end I surely would have done as I now feel a great weight off my shoulders.
My question is this. For those of you out there with similar problems...or any medical issues...how do you find an insurance firm to cover you? I understand my premiums will rise but...who covers you? Any help for future referance will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

We used them four or five years ago and found them very professional however have no idea what they would be like if a claim was made.

Try the relevant charity i.e heart association, they may have specialist cover via thier website and you may get a discount. Worth a try
