Hi,

does anyone have any experience buying prescription meds at the above pharmacy? I'm sure I've read that some people stock up when in BKK as it's cheaper than UK prescription charges. My wife says you still need a prescription in LOS but it would be gret if you didn't. Would also be good to know that the meds are genuine also. I'm thinking of statins and maybe some other stuff. Of course I would be careful Crazy

regards,

Nick

You don't need a prescription - they will sell you anything you ask for. I think the only exceptions are things like Morphine, etc..

There are also generics of many western drugs widely available.

The only things I would be careful of is anything claiming to be an Erectile Disfunction (ED) drug - there are counterfeits of these the world over.

Many items that are only available by prescription in the UK are freely available over the county at any pharmacy in Thailand. As to whether or not the goods are genuine..........who can say?

Very much so.

There are also a handful of drugs that you can buy over the counter in the UK but are illegal to buy over the counter in Thailand, such as codeine/paracetamol or codeine/ibuprofen combinations (Nurofen Plus)

Codeine is classified in Thailand as a Type 2 drug. Believe it or not, bringing something like Nurofen Plus into Thailand is illegal, unless:

  • You have an accompanying letter from your family doctor stating they have been supplied to you for medical purposes,
  • AND the quantities are small enough for personal use only,
  • AND you have no more than 30 days supply.

Think twice before picking a few packs up in Boots at the airport on your way out.

On the subject of behind bars, remember this absurdity in Dubai a few years ago resulting in a British woman spending 8 weeks in jail there:

Etihad and Emirates travellers be aware!
