I'm thinking of having a small spider vein treated by laser on my upcoming trip to Thailand and have found these people
http://www.sirirajskinlaser.com/ Does anyone know of them? Good or bad reports ? prices ? or anywhere else to get this done ? Mark ควาย |

Siriraj Hospital has a very good reputation, I wouldn't be worried about getting stuff done there.
It is the biggest hospital in Bangkok, but I think mainly Thais go there and it hasn't targetted the international market like Bumrungrad etc. |

I recently had a mole removed by surgery (it was too big for laser) here:
http://www.yanhee.net/index_en.asp The whole experience was quick, painless, clean and simple. I'd definitely go back again to the same hospital. Marcus |

Marcus,
Did it take long from initial appointment to treatment? I've only got a short amount of time in BKK. Mark ควาย |

Hi,
I turned up on Sunday morning at about eleven with no appointment or anything. I was out of there one hour later with no mole and an appointment for a week later to get the stitches taken out. 4000 Baht Marcus |

Marcus,
Read that on your blog, excellent service, On the NHS you could have it done free. Only problem is you'd have to wait til it got to be a danger, see your GP, 3 consultants and 7 referals, pay petrol and £14.50 parking fees for 15 cancellations and then £x prescription fees for anti-MRSA drugs. Mark, (Why don't you see about treatment here I would do as you are planning. I too have done similar to Marcus at AEK Udon in Oodorn Tanee (sorry Udon Thani) and have always been seen almost immediately and very cheaply. Same goes for Bumrungrad and Paolo, but not tried Siriraj, even though from what SteveR says, I would concur with all the hospitals I have been to in Thailand (quite a few!). Biggest problem will be keeping any wound clean when out of the hospital, they will offer advice/creams/lotions, but you will need to make sure you dress wounds carefully and thoroughly. |

Thanks Ian, I don't think my procedure will leave a massive wound, just a bit of a scab. Actually, I had an operation in England 4 days before I last went to Thailand and it got infected, a lovely young lady doctor sorted me out in Pattaya Memorial Hospital and did a wonderful job. What I wonder is whether I caught the infection in Thailand OR England. Thanks Marcus Mark ควาย |

There was an article I was reading in an Australian newspaper in Bangkok a few weeks ago regarding medical tourism to countries like Thailand.
It did raise the fact that one of the biggest risks is post-operative infection, whether it was India, Thailand, Singapore etc. |

i wouldnt hesitate in doing it, especially for just veins. i had a varruca that wouldnt go no matter how many visits to gp, creams , lotions, etc. while seeing relations in Mahasarakham, "deep up in the boonies" i decided to get it cut out, and went to the local hospital, they told me that they could laser it out, i did this and 20 mins later and 800 baht later it was done, the only pain was when they put the needle into the varrucca with a local aneasthetic. Cried like a bubby
agree with ian regarding keeoing wound clean, get plenty of dressings and go back if necessary to redress wound, its very cheap. good luck neil |
