Quite a few guys in the past have "developed" ear infections (dirty water in Sea/Swimming pool) whereby doctors recomend that you don't fly until they clear up!

Ok here's a question,

now how do you stand regarding changing return flight to the UK ?

If you go travel agents complete with doc's sicknote couple of days before existing flight leaves,is there a chance the airline will charge you for a new flight or will they accept the note as proof of 'unfit to fly' and simply change flight at little or no extra cost.

It all depends on your ticket, the fare rules. If you change your booking - for whatever reason - the airline is entitled to charge you for such changes in accordance with the fare rules. If you are unfit to fly, that, I'm afraid, is your problem.

Your insurance may pay any additional charges ... ...

Yes. Often the cheaper the ticket, the lower 'class' it is and the higher the cost of changing your flight. With some of the very lowest classes of ticket it is not possible to change your flight.

Class codes are indicated by a single letter code on your ticket.

Heavily discounted fares, commonly T or W, will not permit cabin upgrades, refunds, or reservation changes

So going back to my first post on this thread my 'sick' friend has at least managed to save himself money on his return flight if nothing else.
No news as yet on his impending loss of job ,will keep you upto date as things happen on both job and doctor front.

With any luck for him he will get away with it, but there could be a knock on effect to us of inflated insurance policies, doubt from employers and more hard work from employees, c'est la vie.
