Hello everyone, Does anyone no if my wife being 3 months pregnant will speed up the sv applacation and increase the chances of success as we only have 3 months left why she can fly with out great risk to our baby and really we don't want to leave to the last month she can fly because we don't want any risk to our baby. Also I read on this forum that some women have been xrayed at heathrow how can they do this when it is not safe for the baby and we have just done three days of the spearum tests whitch put our application back by over a week. anyone with any veiws would be a great help yours hopefully Jody and Noi

I had a chest xray for tb at 6 weeks pregnant (when I wasn't aware of being so) but was assured by the obstetrician that as the xray is localised at the chest, there is no great risk to the baby. If you have already submitted your application then I would call the embassy & advise them of the change in your situation & they may ask for a letter confiming the pregnancy. If you havent submitted it then add the letter confirming your wifes condition & due date & write a letter asking for your aplication to be considered urgently due to the safe flying times for a pregnant woman.

The emabassy aren't ogres (contrary to some stories) & your wifes pregnancy will be another proof of contact Big Grin which should help your application.

Although your wife may be sent to the medical centre at Heathrow on her first arrival, she wont be X-rayed. She merely has to show the TB certificate to the medical officer. In the highly unlikely event that the MO does want further tests, simply tell them that she is pregnant and they wont do an X-ray.

With regards to the time needed to process her visa application. If all the documents submitted show that, on the balance of probabilities, she meets the necessary criteria then the visa will be issued without the need for an interview within 10 working days of the application. If an interview is required then recent reports suggest the waiting time is around 5 to 6 weeks.

Remember, if there is going to be a delay between receiving the visa and actually arriving for the first time in the UK then you should ask that the visa be post dated as this will avoid possible problems when she comes to apply for ILR in 2 years time.

Hi J&N,

When my wife arrived at Heathrow 1,5 weeks ago, at first they wanted to x-ray her. She told them she might be pregnant, so she can't give them an x-ray. They let her through without it.

Well, turned out she's not pregnant, bummer, but never mind, we are working on it.

Good luck and Happy New Year to you.

R.

Two things from the Department of Health for you to look at:

The Pregnancy Book: 2006 edition

Birth to five: 2006 edition

We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.
