A question for a mate of mine. His Thai wife has been in England a few months on a marriage visa and is now pregnant, with her being pregnant will she be able to get free prescriptions or have to pay as the visa says no recourse to public funds.Cheers in advance. Thumbs Up

She will be entitled to normal NHS care. Get her registered with a doctor.

Dave, the wife is certainly able to get free prescriptions, and indeed also free NHS dentistry. Neither are within the definition of "Public Funds".

John,

If I continue to eat lots of nice Thai food and my belly continues to expand do you think I could wear a dress and pretend to be pregnant in order to get free prescriptions?

There must be a way to get this 40% tax back somehow Cry

Only if you can also pass a pregnancy test!!!!

There is! Just give sufficient Gift Aid money to charities and you can ensure that your top rate of tax is the Basic Rate! Suspect you might not like this suggestion?

Unfortunately John I have spent the morning running up and down the stairs on the rig so I am now back to my fighting weight and the belly has gone. Sunday lunch should sort that out......... abou the only meal that is nice here all the time.

I will have to look into the gift aid further. Would rather see the money going to a nice charity than the taxmans pocket
