On June 29th-2nd July 2006 I will be taking a proffesional team to the Thailand24hr endurance race (Pattaya).
Although this is to promote and enhance the profile of a new Scottish motors sports team and venue on a world stage, I thought it might be nice to do something for a couple of charities. I have to run on a really tight budget (in motorsport terms) I have secured £2,500 (circa 170k bht)to donate to charity. This cash is now secured and in the teams bank. Basicly the five drivers gave &250 and the team management matched it.
Anyway, we will split this into two donations. If anyone can help us organize the logistics, we will invite some kids to the race, VIP treatment for all (well, Thai style)and give them a good time. Best if anyone who was actually living there and aware of the problems that we could have. Either post suggestions or PM me.
There is a fair bit of publicity being raised about this and our team will be of about ten persons. Our time is really, really tight, so we do need help. The possiblity of diverting some other funds may be possible, but we have already been told to support two kids charities back home.
Have a look at; www.thailand24h.com www.thailand24h.com
Our marketing guys back here are ruthless, make no bones about it, but lets see.
Please, we dont want sponsorship from anyone! Support the other guys on the site that are already doing it.

Hi,

Just an idea... Have you contacted the Pattaya Orphanage? Seems to me that they would be one of the first people to talk to. If not, how about Thai-UK or one of the other charities this site has already supported in the past?

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious and you've done that already!

Anyway, welcome back to the site, hope you're bearing up okay ...

.... and good luck with your amazing event!

Ok. Two charities have been decided.
Pattaya Orphange.
Camillian Centre.
All monies raised split equal between them.
Sorry, but trying not to sound mean I (we) have to use Pattaya charities as the race and projected publicity for us (the team) and the event is being staged in this town.
I wish we could give to all, honestly. Truth is others are pulling my strings.
Anyway, to date £2,250.00 (whatever that is in baht)bht=150k or there abouts.
We will get it up to 200k (bht) even if we have to do silly stunts to get it.
Still waiting for help to co-ordinate?
Ian Donaldson
PS; If its ok with Thailand-uk site and the members, I would like to propose we use my link with the group when making the payments ?

Marcus, when you consider the amount of cash that we are using to enter this event (and its just for our publicity)and the disgusting amount we are paying a 'celeb' to join us, its 'mean'.
Our budget is circa 25k !!!
This would go a long, long way for some of these kids. Unfortunatly, the business Im in requires 'colum sq inches'to self promote itself and in turn atract investors.
I just hope when the 'big boys' get involved, I can pull some 'heart strings' and generate more.
I hav'nt contacted the charities yet until a couple of items are cleared up, but the drivers money is safe and I would like a 'responsible' person or persons to take the lead as my time is very limited on this.

I couldn't help the last charity appeal I saw here. Due to no cash in bank and visa refused for my wife. Now I could make direct contribution ( ok ...small ) to HIV charity for kids in LOS.
UK bank details please

Hi Robert

This is a link you can use to make a donation.

http://www.bahtbus.com/csc/

and here are some pictures of my visit to the Camillian Center to present the cheque raised by members last year. It really is a good place and the children are so loving. On a personal level I cannot forget the care they gave my friend there sadly there are many many more who need the care love and attention that the Camillian gives.
