I dont know if im allowed to do this or not. I just want to put some information down about some fundraising from the Dhammakaya International Society of the United Kingdom(DISUK) They are riasing funds for the monks in south thailand who are being forced out of thier temples by terrorist activaty in the south.
http://nw-meditation.tripod.com This is on my back that i put this info on here, i hope the link is ok?
The reason i feel that this is important is that after looking at the Thai news channels on the internet and seeing monks that have been murderd. I find this very sad indeed and very upsetting. I have just recieved a flyer from the temple in manchester, hence this posting.
i hope i have not broken any forum rules posting this.
regards Paul

p.s. If it is ok? i would like to copy down the short appeal from the flyer???

Fundraising: 238 War-torn temples

Currently the Buddhist monks of the south of Thailand are unable to go on almsround safely because they are the target of none-Buddhist terrorist threats.

Several monks have lost thier lives in terrorist acts while going for alms. The monks of 238 Southern temples are thus currently unable to earn thier proper living and run the risk of having to evacuate thier temples for other provinces.

To encourage to monks to continue thier duties in thier temples, Ven. Dhammachayo (the president of Dhammakaya Temple) has decided to raise funds to help out those 238 temples.

Wat Charoenbhavana Manchester is the local representative forwarding these funds to Thailand. Only one and a half pence per temple could help protect the future of Buddhism (3.50 for 238 temples). Your donation counts however little.

Rejoicing in your merit

"Generosity is the mark of a wise man. The discerning will chose the right time and the very best to offer to those monks who lead a celibate life and are a field of merit who yield the very highest of merit for the giver."

(Buddhist Proverb)

You can call the temple in Manchester if you require a donation form. 0161-736 1633 or 0161 -736 5747

Kind regards
Paul and Da
