Can anbody give me an idea how much a half decent TV would cost to buy In Issan, my father in law has just finished having a new bungalow built for himslf and we thought it would be a nice gesture to get him one.

Depends what you call "half decent".

Very roughly:

21-25" CRT: 3,000 - 6,000 baht
29" CRT: 8,000 - 13,000 baht

19" LCD: 8,000 - 12,000 baht
26-32" LCD: 22,000 - 30,000 baht
37" LCD: 34,000 - 40,000 baht
