I see this section of the forum is now sponsored by The Thailand Centre.

I hadn't heard of this company before and it sounds great - very similar to Sofa Cinema which I already belong to.

Before I sign up, does anyone here have any comments on the service? And is there a way whereby my signing up to it can be directly credited to Thailand-UK.com?

Hi Marcus.

We're just setting up the advertising for The Thailand Centre and The Thai Market both are now sponsors of Thailand-UK.

I'll let Nat (who runs the Thailand Centre) know about this thread and perhaps she can come and and introduce her self and tell you a bit about her business.

My wife has used the service, taking delivery of her first few movies last week.
The discs were great and the service swift.
Tar's very pleased.

Cheers
Lee

Hi Marcus,

Thanks for your interest. Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself properly to all forum users. My name is Nat, and I run Thailand Centre, a Thai entertainment & bookstore in West London. We've just set up the online service not long ago and we're now the only legal provider of Thai rental movies.
As you're already familiar with the concept of online rental, the service is very similar the mainstream online DVD rental. It is very easy to use.

There is a special discount for all Thailand-UK members. We're in the process of updating the website and I'm working on introducing the coupon system where forum members can redeem the points online. This should be done in the next couple of weeks. There's a discount of £3.00 of any single ''pay-as-you go'' package available for customers paying by cheque or bank transfer. Please feel free to sign up online and choose your movies from the library and give me a call or a quick e-mail. I'll then e-mail you back with the adjusted price including the discount.

This discount is applied to all other Thailand-UK members Smiler

The bookshop is also being updated and new products are being added.
We're also introducing Thai magazine subscription, the details of which will soon be available online too.

If anyone's based in London, please feel free to pay us a visit ( we'll open an outlet in Bayswater soon, so it'll be even more convenient).

Please do not hesitate to give me a call if in doubt.

Many thanks.
Kob khun ka,
Nat

Lee,

Thank you Lee for introducing me to The Thailand Centre, thank you for telling me of your positive experience of it, and thank you for introducing Nat. You're a star!

Nat,

Hi. Thank you for telling us about the service. It looks great and I definitely want to sign up. (I imagine there will be very very many couples here who will want to sign up). Thank you so much for the Thailand-UK.com discount!

I see you say:

As much as I want to sign up and start watching movies as soon as possible, it seems like it might be worth waiting a couple of weeks until this whole coupon system is fully established.

Can you let us know when it's done. As soon as your site is fully up and running I'll get my bank details out of the dusty vault. Thumbs Up

Hi Marcus,
Thank you so much for your kind comments and the moral support!

I'll be more than delighted to serve all the Thailand-UK members.

I'm rushing to finish the website and I apologize for the inconvenience.

I'll keep you all informed when everthing is ready. In the meantime please feel free to contact me about the products by telephone and e-mail anytime :-)

We're moving to Bayswater in 2 weeks time so hopefully I'll have visits from those of you who live in London maybe?

Hi, yes, unfortunately the Acton location it's a little too far out for many customers. Unless you live in the area, it's a little hard to find for those coming from the other side of town. I've had many Thai ladies getting lost and ended up somewhere like Harrow instead! So at least the new location is right next to Queensway tube station so it'll be much easier for customers to come and pick up their goods. You mentioned your work is nearby. Do you mean in Acton or Bayswater?

Oh what a shame! I have many local restaurants who are members and I usually drop their movies off for them on the way home ( sounds like a pizza delivery boy, I know!) I live near there myself. So, I still keep ties with my locals Smiler!
A lot of lovely Thai ladies come and bring their home-cooked Thai lunches and sit and chat with me every now and then so I'd definitely miss that too!
The space is tighter up in Central London, but at least it's near many landmarks so people won't get lost no more.

Nat, were you the lady with the stall at the Buddhavihara Temple in Birmingham last Sunday?

If so, we've looked at your website and Pee will be ordering real soon.

Hi all,
Just some technical tips here for customers using AOL as their ISP:
Thailand Centre is like a franchise of Nangthai, which has other branch in Europe also. Currently, UK customers who visit our website sees our shop, which is the Thailand Centre.
However, customers on AOL do not have UK 'IP' address and the system classifies them as customers from the US. This said, it means that they are led to the Nangthai International site instead, and will have to manually click ''go to UK Branch'' in order to access the UK shop.

It maybe confusing for some, so please feel free to drop me a quick e-mail if you have difficulties accessing the site. Smiler
