Me and my wife are going to relocating to Coventry in a few weeks.

Does anybody know if there are any Asian supermarkets in the city where we can get our supplies from??? I know there are in Birmingham but that's a bit of a journey.

Cheers!

There's an Asian shop called East West in the City Centre which sells various Thai goodies however The Globe in Leamington Spa, as mentioned by Storm1fishing isn't too far away and has a wider much selection.

I found East West to be disappointing. Leamington's your better bet.

We found The Globe in Leamington Spa to be disappointing, and will never visit again, and whilst it is clearly very convenient for us living here in Birmingham, the big Wing Yip supermarket ... especially the "bit out the back" ... the "wholesale part" ... is great for stocking up on 10kg (or even 25kg) bags of Thai Jasmine rice .... boxes of 24 Singha beer .... boxes of coconut milk ... etc etc..

So CUFC, after you have moved to Coventry, maybe do a good stock-up at Wing Yip here in Birmingham? Location of store detailed here.

Beeboom,

I had heard of that one and was going to take Aom to see it a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't make it. Please can you let me know if you have any directions from Cov Airport to it or an address?

cufc,

Aom has never had a problem with getting Thai supplies from Coventry, there is a lot of "foreign" fruit and veg available from the indoor market, and shops just out from the city centre, as well as the small East West shop in the city centre. The majority of ours is done at the Globe in Leamington Spa though it is 10 miles away which is why we wanted to have a look/see at Beeboom's suggestion above.
Shame John has had a bad experience at the Globe, but we have always found it to be good if a little "cramped" with the stock.

Hi IanB-UK,

It's in the Cannon Park shopping Centre, near Canley and Warwick University. From Coventry Airport head north up the A45 towards Birmingham, turn left (Phantom Coach Pub) towards Canley, Charter Avenue; then follow the signs to Cannon Park Shopping Centre\Tesco\Warwick Uni. The address is.

Cannon Park Centre
Lynchgate Road
West Midlands
CV4 7EH

Fresh Asia is opposite First Choice veg shop, the shopping centre is not that big so shouldn't be too difficult to find.

Thanks for all the replies Thumbs Up

I think I'll try a few of them. (Fresh Asia's right round the corner from where I'll be working on Westwood Way Business Park so that'll get the first go).

I think I'll give both the Globe and Wing Yip a try although the 2nd's a bit further it looks like it's got loads of stock.

Cheers Everybody!
