Does anyone have or know if the Sek Loso song Bangkok is available anywhere in English?
I have the Thai version but I'm sure at one time there was an English sung version.
I' m after it, as I'm back singing with my band and I'm hoping that we might cover the tune. Perhaps I could try singing it in Thai but the other guys have no idea about Thai.
Besides I cannot really speak Thai, so how will I sing a song correctly in Thai??? Although it could be a good learning curve in Thai speech. Although if we did play it there is a good chance that any Thai's that came to see us would enjoy it!
Thanks.

Yes I will try and contact him via MySpace Thanks. I notice there are several fan sites too on there.

It also seems I have the song listed in my collection wrongly. After searching the net it appears that the song is more well known as Panthip.
So I'm still on the look out for an English version of it. I know at one time it existed as it was up on the old Sek Loso site.
So maybe someone has the english version of Panthip???

Guava, those chords are of a great help, Thanks. Yes I can work something out from that, as you say.
I may just have to go with learning the song in Thai. The chorus's are easy.... The verses are a little harder as they are quite fast to sing, especially in Thai.
I'm not sure if the english translation match to the tune as well as the Thai lyric's. I'm gonna have a mess around with it tonight.

Hi Andy

I had a quick look at the translated version and it is more of an interpretation than a direct translation (this is usual with translated songs as word for word translations dont make much sense), I doubt that the words will fit very closely to original tune.

Time to practice your Thai Thumbs Up

At last today ....... I finally managed to track down the English version of Phantip, by Sek Loso. I did contact him via MySpace and he assured me it was up on I-Tunes, or would be... Anyway a close friend of Sek's got in contact and wham bam.... I now have a copy.
So I never imagined it. Anyway the lyrics are different completely and tells the story of a man bringing his girl to Bangkok and the girl belongs to him... hence the 'You Belong to Me' Chorus...
If anyone wants it e-mailing? give me a shout

One happy Bunny here... Just need to work out the lyrics now so I can get my band to play it. Big Grin

Oh yes the new album, 'For God's Sake' is now out too....in English! I think it's the one from a couple of years back. It's the one with Bonehead from Oasis on it!

Phantip in english should of appeared on it, although it's new title is now Bangkok.

Andy,

Noticed in the local paper this week (one of the free ones, I'm too tight to buy the telegraph Wink) There was an advert about groups and comedians etc to appear (no karaoke) at a venue. Will try and find it if Aom has not thrown it, could be useful for you and the band and would be nice as a get together if you were on the venue, could take them by storm!

Thanks for the comments. Smiler

Just got to work out the english lyrics now. The vocals are very low in the mix on the verses, so may take a while.
