Did anyone else see this story?

My wife took her test at Wimbledon and I have to confess to being amused at how amateurish the whole set up was. Lots of people milling about, generally loitering in one corner of the Library, a cursory look at a passport, then shepherded through to a room full of PC's. It was impossible to tell staff from applicants!

I'm not surprised a way has been found to defraud this and if the fraudsters had been a bit more savvie - using a plain van and having all the gear in the back, out of view, which I guess the next lot will do, they would have been unlikely to have been caught.

Because of the importance of this test, there will always be those seeking a way around it - false applicants/passports being a more obvious way - I wonder if this will lead to a tightening up of systems? But then this is contracted to profit making private sector Companies, so maybe not?

Maybe the applicants photo should be taken at the test centre and added to the certificate - with the HO keeping a copy of the whole certificate on their records?

I think with the compulsory ID card and the biometric requirements it will become more difficult, hopefully they will test the biometrics too as these new(ish) provisions filter through.
