I know a little how they feel I got a letter from the Inland Revenue here saying I owed them over £13,000, that gave me a shock as I am on PAYE. Maybe they should do the same as me and query it even though they have been threatened with double. Mine ended up with the Inland Revenue sending me a cheque for over £2,600 even after I was initially told they were "Absolutely Positive" the -£13,000 was correct and it only toooooook 2 months to sort out! Hope our Government doesn't see that report or it won't be long before everyone here gets the same on top of the Visa Fee increases!

Ian I to had a similar experience, 1 letter said i owed £5k , 1 week later £10K then a month later £20K . In the end i went to my local tax office getting very worried as i was sure that my affairs were in order. The guy just smiled when i told him about the letters and said "well your here now, its the only way we get people in to see us " I ended up getting a small rebate of £750. As far as the Thaksins go, i wish i was a baht behind them.

Ah the Revenue, I'm PAYE and got a letter telling me after I filled in a return that I didn't need to complete these in future, so when the next one arrived, I binned it. Got fined 100GBP, appealed, with the help of the earlier letter, got my money back with a small refund of approx. 175 which my employers had incorrectly paid as tax! That was a useful lesson.

"well your here now, its the only way we get people in to see us Razzer"
As I always suspected, honesty and integrity go out the window when dealing with the revenue I suppose that is why they find it impossible to recognise the truth, it is a stranger to them
