a similar thing happened in mainland china after it was announced that mainland chinese phones would be able to receive sms messages from europe and other places. most people who tried to text mainland china found out that it wasn't possible at first. i'm not sure if it's the same problem, but some thai phones might need to be adjusted at a phone shop, to change the central phone number through which text messages are routed (maybe by adding an 8). ian.

I use telesavers and regularly my number comes up as a Thai number and shes jokes "you in bangkok and not tell me"
Had a period of time where she could not text me on my number but I could text her, so i had to get a new phone and number and that worked ok. Then she changed numbers when she got home from England and my original number worked fine.
About two weeks ago it did not work again for 1 night. I think the Thai system is not all that good sometimes.
