Hi all

I've got a problem texting to Thai mobile numbers since they have changed the digit. I can still recieve the text from Thai numbers but when I tried to text back, they never recieved it. I'd tried both with and without adding number 8 in front of the mobile numbers. It didn't seem to work at all. I just wonder if anyone has got the same problem.

Cheers.

Kate

a similar thing happened in mainland china after it was announced that mainland chinese phones would be able to receive sms messages from europe and other places. most people who tried to text mainland china found out that it wasn't possible at first.

i'm not sure if it's the same problem, but some thai phones might need to be adjusted at a phone shop, to change the central phone number through which text messages are routed (maybe by adding an 8).

A weird thing happened tonight. I called a mobile in Bangkok on 18185 and forgot to put the extra 8 in. My number came up on the mobile I called as a Thai number and my friend was convinced I was in Thailand. I had to call back with the 8 included before I was believed. Eeker

I use telesavers and regularly my number comes up as a Thai number and shes jokes "you in bangkok and not tell me"

Had a period of time where she could not text me on my number but I could text her, so i had to get a new phone and number and that worked ok. Then she changed numbers when she got home from England and my original number worked fine.

About two weeks ago it did not work again for 1 night. I think the Thai system is not all that good sometimes.

This used to happen all the time when I used to text kwang Confused, I had to keep telling her to delete messages as her inbox/outbox was full.

Kate,

You will get this from time to time with no explanation. I once tried to get to the bottom of it with both O2 in the UK and AIS in Thailand - both denied that there was anything wrong. However, I'm pretty sure the problem lies in Thailand.
