I just switched to them a month ago and a week later it went up to 2p and it still seemed good value compared to the Story Asia cards we were using and a lot less bother all round as well, so I am well chuffed its back to 1p, Thanks Fish.

I know that there are cheaper alternatives to 18185, but the ease and simplicity of the system means we'll be sticking with them for now.

You had your mic plugged in? Eeker

Seriously, VoIPDiscount used regularly in this house ... no problems .... both Nat's and my computer have VoIP phones attached ... bought from Maplins. Indeed this phone.

I used to sing the praises of 18185, not any more.

See Warning to all who use 18185 or similar.

I'm having problems with 18185 today. It comes up with a message saying that they do not offer calls to this destination when I try Thailand. Anyone else having problems ?

Help

Mark, yes, when trying to phone a UK mobile, it came up with the same message as you describe.

Clearly technical problems today.

The last couple of times I used 18185 I got a message in Thai - เงินของคุณใกล้หมดกรุณาเติมเงินค่ะ (your money is about to run out - please top up). It's the same voice as the 1-2-Call girl (Thai pay-as-you-go service).

Come to think of it I got the message on TUK telecom when using my mobile.

The calls all went through ok though. Smiler

Hi my Friends.

Can i assume if you are on pay and go say 02 Mobile phone
18185 will not work, also have t-mobile on text rates.
Made call using 18185 was charged 85p for 5mins.
So was charged my normal rates having followed the instructions to ring 020 number then the follow on number.
No problems with landline at the moment.

Thanks

If using 18185 on o2 Pay as You go, o2 charge you for the time you are connected to the access number (020).A cheaper option for calling from a Pay as You go phone is an international phone card from the Post Office, as once you have dialled the access number and put your card PIN number in you are no longer charged by o2 the money just comes off your card, I think it's 8.5p per min to a thailand mobile, about half the price if you use 18185 from your pay as you go phone.

Hi fish

Many thanks for your reply i was expecting that answer i
rang another 02 mobile here in the UK and as i had not
used my mobile so far today was charged 25p for the first
3 minutes and 5p for rest of day which are my normal charges
Does this apply to ALL pay and go mobiles what ever the company is using the 18185 service.

At least it is OK using my landline and it is nice now to be
able to send my Thai girl friend regular text at only 1p
