I received a text today on my mobile.

It said, (quote) Dial 07744988800 for free international calls! Due to strong demand we have just added more lines & offer a better service! Dont forget to tell your friends & Family. When I clicked on reply it was the same number.

I am on Orange. Anybody had a similar message. I suppose its another scam but will phone Orange later as I am not going to take the risk of calling LOS with it just yet.

Cheers/Kob Khun, Ron-Tik.

no mate, you just ring that number then dial your thai number, when you get your orange bill the 077 number will be on it,and the minutes just come off your monthly tarrif, the ones i use are (07744200004) (07744200006) .works for me

This service keeps cropping up on here - WARNING:

Always check with your mobile network that the "specific" number you propose to use is included with your cross-network minutes on YOUR particular tariff. If you don't you may find yourself with a massive bill at the end of the month - some networks charge 75p per minute for calls to 07744 numbers, this is NOT a mobile number but a 'number translation' service.

Better safe than sorry!

Thanks kiansdaddy & Tobias,

I have just made a 30 second call with that number and will wait for my bill to arrive to see whether it was free or not.

Its no use asking Orange as they are bound to say I will be charged.

I have just checked with vodafone, I have a 1000 minute per month cross network monthly contract and they say to dial 07744 it costs 50p per minute, and is not included in my inclusive minutes, hope it helps some of you.

I'm there

In my research on this it seems Orange often does allow the use of 077...... numbers as part of your cross network minutes. But sometimes it does not. There seems to be variation depending on the type of Orange contract ( brought from Orange, Carephone Warehouse etc ) Also I understand that these numbers work as the Orange Technical systems think that these numbers are mobile numbers. When the system realises the mistake that number gets stopped as a free number. There are numerous forum where these numbers are discussed and compared . The one I use is 077449745907. This only works Minday to Friday though.

I have received my phone bill today from Orange and I was not charged for the calls I made to Tik using 07744988800 and 07744200004, they just came off my free network x-minutes. Thumbs Up
