An interesting concept Derren, but all telecom contracts will have a clause allowing the provider to increase charges and change terms and conditions.

The mobile market are well known in the industry for being greedy - like charging over-the-top rates for 07, 08, 09 and international numbers.

Do you use the 0844 number on your mobile? If so, you might consider using the T-UK number! Wink

I had my Orange bill this morning and since the 10th of June I have been charged for the 07744 numbers which had been free with my X minutes.

Never mind, it was good while it lasted. Shrug

Exactly the same has happened with my wife and her Vodafone contract.

I was late for work this morning as I had to resuccitate her not long after opening her mobile bill.

On her calling card, it has an 207 number you can access and she gets free landline calls as well, so in your opinion will it be ok to use this? i.e. free.

Did Orange or Vodafone advise you of the change?

In that case Ron, it may be worth telephoning them to ask for a refund. They are obliged to advise if there is a significant change in the rates payable.

Tobias,

If I use a 07744 or similar number that say can be used as X minutes, isn't that up to me to be responsible for using them.

I have just come home for a coffee and have received my past months bill.
On the 24/07/07 I phoned Tik on the 0844626464 number and have been charged £2.12p for 2 minutes, 12 seconds. Another 3 were Dial-wise 08448615050 and cost me 17p for 1 minute 74 seconds.

If these numbers were included in your inclusive allocation and subsequently the network decides to remove these number types and start charging they are obliged to give notice of such changes so that you are aware of the cost implications.

If they have not advised you of the change then you are not obliged to pay it. You are now aware so of course any further use you will be responsible for.

As for 0844 - complete ripoff, the maximum charge for these numbers is 5ppm, everything over and above that is Orange's greedy profit!

Agreed as Dao has been doing this since arrival and despite some local Thai Ladies giving other numbers the T-UK Telecom works best and she now recomends

NB One such lady told us "only 1p per min but not work much" Big Grin
