Hi..hopefully someone can answer this otherwise Im in big trouble.

I had my Orange phone unlocked today by internet in order to use an AIS one-2-call SIM whilst in Thailand. I previously used my 3310 but have to give it to someone (dont ask) so I'll be using my Nokia 3120.

Well, problem is this..I like to keep my phone secure and always try to set up a pin-code protection but whilst the Thai sim appeared to read fine in the phone I have managed to block the SIM by entering the wrong pin and now its prompting for a PUK code.

How the hell am I going to fix this by Saturday..? Ive already had to ring Orange cos I blocked the Orange SIM too as they dont supply the default PIN with the instructions..

Help much appreciated please..Beast.

ive done the same thing mate, but if you take it into a phone shop that unlocks phones they can sort it,they unlock them useing a data cable rather than punching in codes

Are you absolutely sure..? Im getting divorced next week and there are numbers on the SIM which are VERY IMPORTANT.

How much does it cost..? Im assuming the airport shop will do it or similar.

Cannot tell you how important it is..I need to retain the number and recover 2x numbers on the SIM.

Hi Beast

Did you get the PUK from Orange?
I suspect the only way to get the AIS PUK will be to ring AIS customer services Shrug
Some code unlocking can cause all sorts of problems.
Unlocking kit will not help you with this, too late.
Can only suggest contacting AIS and asking for the PUK number for your phone number,

On my last trip I woke up one morning after a few beers to find I'd locked my sim out somehow. I did get hold of AIS to get the PUK code but they needed a serial number off the pack the SIM came in. If you have that you should be able to get the code/

Do you have the packaging from the One-2-Call sim? IIRC it should contain the PUK.
Else contacting (24hr) AIS customer services is probably your only option (don't worry, they have English speaking operators who speak good English). From the UK - +66 2271 9000.

Good luck!

The moby is Orange..I accidentally blocked that SIM too because they dont tell you the default simlock number in their book. I got that sorted then tried the Thai sim..didnt work so I used an internet company to unlock the phone...brilliant...then I tried the card..it worked but I wanted to pin code protect the phone so when switched on it prompts for pin. I entered it wrong obviously.

Now..this is the best bit..its not my SIM..I have to give it back too but along with my numbers are my friends and I have no documentation for it either. Im hoping AIS will help me out but I simply cannot lose the numbers and it is imperitive I retain the mobile number. The wife read the AIS website and it says if its wrong 3 x times then its new sim time and new number...this MUST NOT happen.

Help..?

Beast.

A long shot, maybe one of the cheap SIM readers might give you access to the phone numbers stored.
The fact it is not in a phone you might be able to read the data stored.
Then AIS should be able to help you out by transferring the mobile number to a new SIM card.

SIM card reader won't work.
When the SIM is blocked (or until a correct PIN has been entered) the contacts and certain other info cannot be read. Even if you're not using a phone to access the chip, the processor on the chip will not let you access the data without the correct PIN.

Beast - careful with the PUK. IIRC you get 10 goes then the SIM's permanently fried. Frowner

Im fed up with the thing now..should have just unlocked the phone and be done with it..just Im too fussy and wanted to pin protect the phone.

I'll see if a phone shop will be prepared to help..I suspect not.

You can alays buy a new or second hand phone from MBK in LOS They are cheap, can use any pre-payment card and will work with Thai sims when in Thailand and UK sims when in UK. I have never had a problem. It is also easy to transfer data from one sim to the other vice versa.
I would never take a UK bought mobile over to Thailand.

This one is fixed.

AIS gave me the PUK code after asking a couple of questions about where I top up and for how much.

Resolved.
