Siam Steve,

We have been using 18185 for quite some time now and we have had no problems. Overall we have had better connections than any other access methods that we have used and using this service for Thailand and 18866 for calls in England our telephone bills are the lowest that I can ever remember!

Ian, we also use that split .... 18185 for calls to Thailand ..... 18866 for calls to UK landlines ..... but also 18185 for calls to UK mobiles and non-geographical numbers like 0870 and 0845.

As you say .... our telephone bills are the lowest that I can ever remember! Applause

18185 ... calls to UK mobiles .... 5p per minute Monday to Friday .... 2p per minute on Saturday and Sunday. How do they do that?

Using T-Uk telecom at 5p / min together with a good service landline provider is a smart move.
If anyone has followed my posts you will know I have had some big differences of opinion with this site, but it is a more than ok resource, and won't run on either my hot air or fresh air.
If you are here give these guys some support

Do you know if that price holds if the UK mobile is roaming (as in Thailand)? My son phoned me in Thailand from my house phone and I had a whopping £13 chucked on to my mobile bill as they billed the house phone to Orange UK, and my mobile from Orange UK to Thailand

Only the cost to the UK mobile is reduced. If the mobile phone called is roaming then roaming charges WILL be payable by the owner of the mobile.

One should also be aware that if you use the voicemail facility and the mobile has been switched on abroad, then calls that are answered by your voicemail service WILL BE CHARGED AT ROAMING RATES - even if no message is left! If you do not want to pay for people listening to your voicemail message when your phone is switched off while abroad - turn off the voicemail service in the UK before you depart - otherwise you will end up with an expensive bill when you return!

Most mobile networks charge a minimum of one full minute for calls received whilst roaming - even if the call is only one or two seconds. I was abroad last year and switched my mobile off whilst in a 2 hour meeting. One person had made 23 attempts to call me together with 6 other people - none of these left a message and simply hung up as soon as they heard the voicemail greeting, the cost to me? £17.50! I have relatively low cost calls whilst abroad, if you are on a Pay-as-you-go service, that little lot of calls could have wiped £54 off your available credit!!!

I use 18185 also, but the recorded message before on going calls says the charge is 2p per minute. I never check exactly how much I was billed, too many to keep log. I e-mailed them few times to verify which is the charges 1p as advertised or 2p as message says , so far, not a straight answer from yours truly. Comments, anyone?

Krit, you will almost certainly be charged the rate you hear in the recorded message when you call.

Krit,
Do you have a BT line or another provider?

The 18185 website shows that calls to Thailand from a BT line are 1ppm, and from other providers 2ppm.

Anyone interested in 1p per minute from BT landline to either Thai landline or Thai mobile, have a look at website www.loiol.co.uk. They have many companies listed charging all sorts of cheap prices to all countries.
Try 0844 8615 959 or 0844 8611 414. Both charge 1p per minute to both Thai landlines and mobiles. Can you really get much cheaper than that?

Thanks Steve,
I tried it right away and those 2 numbers are very good, the same recorded message though, wander if this is all in one big family. However, good to be able to make calls without too much of a worry. What can you suggest re-cheapest calls from Thailand ?
Much appreciated,
Krit

Hi, reckon they are maybe all part of a bigger family.

Ive used Dial Around since summer 2005, 0844 861 7171 and they are 1p per minute to Thailand. This is to my now wifes mobile although her aunts mobile is 2p p.m., no explanation but still very cheap. And no connection charges.

Connection has always been great and clarity second to none.

Regards. Adam.
