It does a comparison of all the web sites offering cheap calls to everywhere. I find it amazing that we can phone a mobile in Thailand at one p. a minute, but if I use the O845 number for my bank and a whole host of other companies I pay something like 7 pence a minute.

One word of caution, many of these one p. a minute people have a five pence connection charge, and you pay from the moment you get connected with the 08 number, so when you listen to the engaged tone you could be paying!

I would be careful here if I were you, as they might say you will be charged 1p a minute but it is not always the case.
It might be OK on some numbers, but they seem to change their tariffs when it suits them.

I had my Orange mobile bill yesterday and my calls to LOS were charged at 10p a minute from a 0844861 number, which I thought would be only 1p.

Other members will verify this, I think?

If you dial from a UK mobile then your mobile provider will charge more, im with virgin and they also charge about 10p per min for local rate numbers. so i always dial from my landline when i ring thai landlines or mobile

All the better ones tell you the call rate when you make the call. Personally I find 18185.com the most consistent and their billing system excellent. They are also good for UK calls

Agreed no problem at all, using either mobile or landline

Personally, never used 18185 for UK calls, but Thailand and Germany is excellent. Connection is very good and always a clear line, unlike the calling cards. You can also use the service from as many different phone numbers as you want, so long as you register them with 18185 first

One thing is don't forget the connection charge - my wife did and she was surprised as to all the 5p charges. Now she knows if the phone is engaged then she will wait a few minutes before retying.
