And - what do you guys do? - you take my posting off the forum. Oh God man...! what the hell is going on in this forum? - don't you guys want to help your members? My mind is boggling at what is going on in the mindset of the moderator. ...

In his two posts above Ling Dum stated that calls to his service are included in Orange inclusive minutes. In his first post he gave details of the business name and an example of the type of numbers that callers would dial using this 'free' service.

In order to satisfy myself that I was not being too harsh with respect to my assertion that the information provided by Ling Dum is misleading, I contacted Orange to verify the information he posted.

Using the information provided by Ling Dum in the 2 moderated posts above, Orange confirmed that the number range mentioned by Ling Dum is NOT included in Orange free minutes. I was directed to their website and the following:

"Your Anytime Any Network Minutes include UK calls to Orange phones, standard UK landlines (those beginning with 01/02), other UK mobile networks and Orange answerphone. Calls to 07 call forwarding services, 070 and 08 and 09 numbers are not included in bundle and will be charged up to a maximum of 20p/min, 55p/min, 55p/min and £1.70/min ..."

The service Ling Dum attempted to advertise here is an 07 "call forwarding service" and consequently will (according to Orange) be charged to the caller at the rates shown above.

For the record, o2 are barring calls to this number range because of a "dispute with the providers of these services". Vodafone charge between 35p and 47p per minute to call this number range. T-Mobile and Three also charge ... so it looks like Lung Dim's service has, just like ...

So, to answer Brian's question, it looks like by moderating his posts we may have managed to "HELP" our members from being potentially duped in to some hefty (and unexpected) mobile phone bills!

Or is it more cryptic than that ???
The vast majority of Thai's pronounce 'R' as 'L', therefore the 'Ling' is actually 'Ring'. Concluding that to Ling this number you must be pretty Dum - Ling Dum LOL

NTL is now Virgin media isnt it? I'm on Virgin media and the 08448 calls do cost the 1p per minute as advertised from your landline. If you want to be sure about it then make a test call just before your next bill is due.
