Hi all,

Once again I would like to remind everyone of the definite change of Thailand mobile number code changes to 10 digits as of 1st September.

Just received the attached email from AIS :-


Dear Khun Amnuai Byrne

Subject : Information about 10 Digits

Thank you very much for your enquiry and your continuous support of our services. We are pleased to fulfil your enquiry and provide you with following information:

We would like to publicize you about a plan for changing mobile numbers from 9 digits to 10 digits that it’s necessary to add 1 digit into every mobile number when you make outgoning calls since September 1, 2006. This is a plan for supporting to higher customers’ using; therefore, for calling to mobiles starting with 01, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08 and 09, it’s necessary to add 8 after 0 every time when calling out. This is for both mobile phone and landline phone.

For example: Mobile no. 01-832-xxxx will be changed to 081-832-xxxx.

Nevertheless you can dial with the old method for 3 or 4 digits numbers such as 1175 or 001 or 009 or 1900-xxxx-xx or other special numbers.
For customers who would like to change digits of numbers by yourselves, you can observe from the fisrt of 2 digits to prevent any confusing.


Mobile Phone Numbers starting with...

060-066
0670-0679
068-072
0730-0731
0738-0741
0749-0751
0760-0761
0767-0771
0777
078-079

For any other numbers from this table, it' s no need to change to be 10 digits.

In addition, you need to change "Message Center Number" to send and receive SMS :
1. GSM Advance: change from +6618110888 to be +66818110888.
2. GSM1800: change from +6613101800 to be +66813101800.
3. 1-2-Call: change from +6618310808 to be +66818310808.

Hello RayBan

Thanks for posting the details. I've made this topic "sticky".

It appears a grace period has been set between 1st September and 30th November during which time both the old 9-digit and new 10-digit numbers will work. From 1st December, only the new 10 digit numbers will work.

Hi Maokaang,

An excellent "sticky" which is totaly explanatory and foolproof, otherwise I could foresee the forum becoming swamped with telephone problem questions after "Thailand time-out." Well done Thumbs Up Cool
