what a read, an interesting view from an english prospective, so very understandable and easy to read.

I took this book on holiday and read it after the Quiet American.

Any book I think is going to suffer when read after a classic but whilst no classic this book is worth a read. Its themes are legion three dissfunctional brits travel to LOS to find one of their daughters. The characters dont convince all the time but overall there are some beautifully written observations on Thailand in General, Thai mysticism and religion, and the shock to three northern bitter drinkers landing in Chaing Mai.Sensitively observed was the scene when the characters go off on a night on the town and one of the protaganists finds his soul mate and dream girl is not all she seems.

This is a book I will be keeping
