Cities of Angels

Cities of Angels
From LA to Bangkok the Irish Way

Charlie Herald

A True Story.

Waking up with a mind distilled from an evening's over indulgence, this Irish-born Los Angeles resident, discovered he unintentionally booked a flight on the internet to rendezvous with his father in Bangkok. So begins a whimsical, self-unearthing and true family tale, set against a backdrop of three Cities of Angels: Los Angeles, Bangkok and Ballycastle, Ireland.

Chronicled from both a resident's and a cultural rubbernecker's perspective, the narrator recounts: calling the Vice President of the United States a w****r, in person; assaulting a Hollywood leading man; a near-death experience with an LA street gang; riverdancing with Malaysian villagers; father's life-altering participation in the Bali bombing; spending the night with an IRA terrorist; prostitution; transsexual experiences and numerous comedic, cultural contradictions.

The book is written in 'real time', allowing the reader a passenger's insight, which educates about three cultures, entertains, inspires and hopefully connects with their own experiences.

These blurbs about book appeared in 'Pattaya Mail' and 'Easy Reader', Los Angeles. It's available in Bookazine, Asia and Siam Bookstores, and a few chapters can be read on website www.ThailandIreland.com.
“Hark the Herald angels sing – Charlie Herald is a
true Irish storyteller so let’s hope Charlie’s angels
remain in fine voice for the sales of an interesting
book.”
- Pattaya Mail.

"Herald definitely has an unusual way with words. You
will laugh out loud; wherever you are reading. I
guarantee it. I think Herald’s true gift as a
storyteller is his ability to keep you tucked in his
pocket. This very personal style makes you feel
grateful for the ride.”
- Easy Reader, Los Angeles.

“That’s a great book Charlie!...I bought it in Bangkok
a few weeks back. Very funny!...It’s like a wee pub in
paper form.”
- Gerry Nolan, Ireland (Thailand resident).

"Even if I hated the book – which I loved - the last
two pages made me cry and were well worth the cost.
I'll recommend this to anyone, regardless of their
background."
- Wendy, Australia.

“Reading “Cities of Angels…” I couldn’t help but laugh
and cry. Laugh, because it was so funny. Cry, because
I couldn’t stop laughing.”
- Andrew, England
