Year : 2003 Director : Ekachai Uekrongtham Starring : Asanee Suwan, Kyoko Inuoe, Sorapong Chatree Genre : Action / Drama
The true story of Asia's most famous boxer. He fights like a man so he can become a woman. Born in a boy's body, believing he has a girl's heart. Based on the dramatic and unique real story of Thai boxer Parinya “Nong Toom” Charoenpol (Asanee Suwan). The tale follows Parinya from his childhood in a family home living on the borders of poverty in Northern Thailand to his years as a novice Buddhist monk, tracing the pressures and influences that led to the blossoming of his feminine side and his life as the lipstick-sporting "lady-boy" boxer. After pummelling men in the ring, Parinya used the sport as a stepping-stone to a sex change operation, fulfilling his boyhood dream of becoming a woman.
well acted, directed and produced. and the former miss thailand looking amazing
the extras on the CD included interviews with key players in the film, which were also very interesting and 'the making of the film' , which showed how they found the main actor and turned him from a male to a female
although why is it thai films always seem to have really crap farang actors in them. they must get them from kosang road.

Yes, saw it last night. A wonderful film. I especially liked the shot at the end showing all the stages of her development as characters at a Bangkok bus stop.
See it if you can.
