This is one of the best films I've seen in a long time. It's scary with the occasional humourous moment just when you expect something to make you jump! A must for your collection.

Synopsis by Slasherpool:

A young photographer and his girlfriend accidentally
hit a woman with their car on their way back from a
party. They decide to make a hit and run but soon
enough weird things start appearing in the photo-
graphers photos. It doesn't take too long before they
realize that the haunting memories of the accident
isn't the only thing haunting them. The woman is
back for revenge, forcing the couple to do some
investigation on the woman in order to know how to
survive this living nightmare.

Review by Slasherpool:

It's not often that a good horror flick comes out
of Thailand, but when they occasionally do they
tend to be really good. Shutter is an excellent
example of just how great a Thai flick can be. The
movie sticks to the same old Asian ghost flick
concept where a longhaired girl pops up every now
and then for a good scare, BUT this one has got
something that most of the other Ju-On and Ring
rip-offs doesn't have; it's got a good and well
polished script. It doesn't just have a girl
popping up every now and then, it also blends the
story together with real paranormal activity.
It shows us real pictures of ghosts and doesn't
have the longhaired girl show in every photo but
sometimes there just seems to be like a white
reflection on the photo, just like in real ghost
photographs. This was probably the most ingenious
thing about the movie in my opinion.

"Shutter" opens in breezy fashion, and by the fifth minute young lovers Tun and Jane are in their car heading back from dinner with some friends, only to (literally) run into something on the dark road. The lovers spot the body of a woman laying in the road behind them, but before Jane, the driver, can get out of the car to check, Tun has convinced her to drive off. Days later, it's revealed that the only accident on that particular road on that particular night was that someone had run their car into a billboard -- Jane and Tun's car. But what of the dead -- or hurt -- young woman?

I went to watch Shutter and really enjoyed it.
Damn scary and shows that the Thais know how to make good horror movies! Some people in the cinema were absolutely terrified. Not one for the feint hearted!
Annoying this is that I've heard that the VCD/DVD doesn't have English subtitles (it did in the cinema) Mad
Definitely one to watch in the dark!

My copy is the Hong Kong/Macau version: Region 3 NTSC DVD with Traditional Chinese/Simplified Chinese/English subtitles. I picked it up in London's Chinatown.

I bought the Shutter DVD here in Singapore, it was the top movie here for a week or so after its release and the reviews were great but I couldn't get to see it so I got the DVD (with English subtitles).

Great movie, great ending, really enjoyed it. Thoroughly recommended.

I saw it in the MBK center Bangkok last September. In the dark with Thais jumping and crying out all the time (Wife included). Even having to read the subtitles I still thought it was a very good film indeed Thumbs Up

That one is Region 2 but only 1 DVD. As often happens with successful Japanese horror movies, Shutter is being remadein the US for release next year.

I taught Ananda Everingham, the male lead, whose dad is a very successful Thai-based photo-journalist (spooky coincidence!?)/publisher/India restaurant owner. He was also the subject of a movie which many Thai women seem to know about, released under various titles, Comeback, Love Is Forever, Passion and Valor. It tells the story of him being ejected from Laos as a suspected spy in the 70s and having to swim the Mekong to rescue his true love and bring her to Thailand.

It's confusing. The listing says 1 disc, but the cover image says "2 DISC SPECIAL EDITION".

Confused

Bought the UK edition in HMV last week; it is a two disc special edition.

Excellent film. Noi and Poy had to hide behind cushions several times!

As Dan says, the ending is superb, and there a very funny joke along the way.
