I've always found this website to be a good starting point along with the usual sites as previous mentioned.

I suggest you still give them I go .We went during the scool hols this year and paid £478 including tax through dialaflight .
Have just looked at the dates you require and its £370 = £88 tax totalling £458 saving you £117 per ticket.
I have used them 3 out of the 7 times I hav been ot in the last 2 years.

I see guys ask this many times... "best deal" but what does it mean? Confused There are many factors to take into account when choosing an air ticket and "best deal" may not always turn out to be just that! I think in most cases when people ask for the "best deal" they are asking for the cheapest ticket price available but there is always a price to be paid!

Some factors to be taken into account are:

1) Luggage allowance? (sometimes 20kg sometimes 30kg)
2) Can the return date be changed? Free or charged?
3) Airport? (for Londoners, etc. Heathrow or Gatwick?)
4) Maximum stay? (some tickets are only one month)
5) Direct flight or change flights in transit? (can add upto 8 hours on journey time!)
6) Seat pitch on plane (if you don't want the passenger's head in front right in your face for 12 hours!)
7) Entertainment system (personal tv or movie screen - important for some)
8) Daytime or night-time flights (for 12 hour flights it is easier to sleep on a night-time flights)
9) Weekday/weekend flights? (some want to travel weekends to maximise there leave)
10) Pay full ticket price upfront with no refund or a £50 deposit allowable? (some cheap tickets the full price must be paid immediately)

So what is the "best deal"... that is up to what you specifically require, there is no universal "best deal".

Upcountry you are unlikely to get any deals on flights 5-6 months ahead, you will need to get much nearer the date. Also, you are travelling over Easter and Songkran which could push ticket prices up, i.e. not low season.

Still a great price but the £280 offer from West East on Thai is of course + taxes - I'd guess the total would be around £400.

i've heard good things about air nz and it's a member of star alliance (important for collectors of THAI royal orchid points). one thing that puts me off is the 0815 flight departure time from hk to london.

lucky

that's a pity, but u're absolutely right! the THAI website lists air nz booking classes L, G, S, K and P as not qualifying for mileage accrual.
