If you purchased a ticket with BA between 11th August 2004 and 23rd March 2006 for any long haul flight including BANGKOK and also VIRGIN ATLANTIC you can get a refund of fuel surcharges, see the above site.If you do get a refund please remember who told you first !!!!!

If you qualify,you will receive between £4 and £20 per passenger per return trip. Evidently based on a third of the amount of any fuel surcharge.

Interestingly,the qualifying flights for Bangkok refer to flights via Suvarnabhumi,which of course didn't open until Sept 2006....

I have sent an email to the contact point detailed on the linked site querying whether or not long haul BA flights to/from Don Muang are excluded.

I didn't look at the full details of the refund as i could never afford to fly with BA anyway - always too expensive for me !! Hardly seems worth bothering then really does it? Then again it would pay for a few bottles of LEO for me!!

My ticket with BA in that period cost a total of £80,comprising entirely taxes/fuel etc. (The ticket being acquired through airmiles). I shall be delighted to receive £20 back,or indeed anything,which will have made the trip even more of a bargain

I did two long haul trips in that period but don't have the tickets, so how do I prove it? Will they check records of passenger lists?

There is a claim form on the site. It gives a number of options for "proof",none of which involve submission of tickets or boarding cards. They request flight numbers/dates/destinations etc and/or your passport number.
If you had a 30 day visa waiver granted on arrival,you will have sufficient proof in your passport of dates/flight numbers...
