Along with a few other minor scams. Taxis who never put the meter on or tuk tuk drivers who find overpriced hotel rooms for you and collect the commision and so it goes on. Having said that we all know of locals who have looked after us very well. I remember travelling from pakse to udon ratc' over the border and given a lift in a air con lorry for nothing more than a smile and wai. The bus driver who did a detour to drop me off outside the railway station and so it goes on. The worst of course is the oldest, good old robbery such as the fagins of this world. I work in london and see tourists wondering around with wallets hanging out of pockets open bags etc. Luggage theft at the airport ???????.
