Haven't travelled with Eva for a few years now and can't remember the seating layout in economy. I've looked on Eva's website and they show 2 kitchens in the middle of economy with toilets at the front and back. The travel agent insists that there are toilets in the middle too. My problem is that I need to sit nearest the toilets with baby changing facilities. Can anyone tell me the actual layout please?

To make matters more difficult they use 747's on the flights to Bkk now, although in April and May, travelling back seperately, the missus and I both found ourselves on 777's on the flight back to LHR, despite the tickets saying Jumbos for both legs.

Paul,
That's the one I was looking at when speaking to the travel agent. She was saying that the galleys around 55 ish weren't both galleys but one is in fact a toilet but she couldn't guarantee it. She moved us from 56 to 51 which is a little closer to the toilets with baby changing (around 45 ish)but anything closer was already taken.

Caller,
When I first travelled with EVA I am sure it was a 747 but it was in the days when the outbound flight from LHR stopped in Vienna for an hour but was non stop on the return leg.

Anyone out there with recent EVA experience?

Noel,

EVA got a lot of kudos using state of the art 777's on the LHR/BKK non-stop route - much praise for space, service, fiddly things on seat backs and the like.

But they changed back to 747's from 777's this year, came as quite a surprise to me to fly back on a 777 on 26.4.08 as that wasn't on the ticket, especially as walking to my flight, I saw an EVA 747 take off! likewise, for the missus on 30.5.08.

Maybe someone else has an update?

Hi
I used Eva twice - in Feb and then in June 2008. both times were 777's fabulous and the service is the best I have ever experienced...not that I had been on any long haul flights b4.
As far as I know passengers with kids get front seats nearby the toilets. Might be wise to call your travel agent to make sure.
I think EVA bought a whole fleet of 747s and are gradually getting rid of 747s which is poss why some times they use 7474s still. Not sure of exact layout...sorry...

A problem with 777's is there are no cross aisles. There is a bit of space on the bulkhead seats to cross the plane ( people see a vacant toilet on the other side of the plane).
We had a bassinet for the baby and people where still trying to squeeze past Bah! . We blocked the gap with some luggage in the end.

Glad were on the 747 then - were flying on the 27th and I called Eva and they confirmed it will be the 747 that takes 372 passangers....

But looking again at the baby changing facilities they seem to be in the middle of the plane only - and surprisingly in Premium economy.

can any confirm that they are also down the back of the plane?

Skip,
"can any confirm that they are also down the back of the plane?"

That's exactly what I started this topic for but still no answer. It's also complicated by the fact that my travel agent said that there's another toilet near row 55 next to the galley.
Help

Skippy,
Tried doing that yesterday afternoon. Rang a few times during the afternoon to get the engaged tone and finally got it to ring at 10 to 5 and held for 10 minutes at which point I gave up.
Best of Luck!! Big Grin

Yeah - got through to the wrong part and she was just about to tell em off - then I said where I worked and that this was the only number we had for them ( our web acess was down etc etc) and she was trying to be helpful but still gave me the other number to call - so bqack to square one - will try again tomorrow - BUT not certain will get anywhere as I think they will basically look on the web themselves and give us answer that way.

May be we should upgrade to Premium econ - seems to be bay changing in every toilet there!!

Skip,
I'd love to but for the cost! This will be our second trip this year and budgets are tighter than tight. I usually fly Thai but am hoping that EVA are as good as their website pictures suggest. Am really downhearted about the standards on Thai now and the attitude of the staff. I have been travelling with Thai for 15 years now and the factors that sold it for me was that were : Thai national airline (I'm Thai), friendly and helpful Thai staff, non stop etc. What a change!
Look forward to tomorrow's answers!!

SNAP - we were lucky once and the wife and I got upgarded at the airport - I think they felt sorry for us as we wre the last to check in cos our taxi "broke down" on the way to the Airport and we had called in a panic to let them know

EVA used to be the bebst kept secret on flights to Thailand (about 8 years ago) - except for the fact that it can upset the wife when they try and talk to her in chinese I prefer them over Thai

I didn't know they had gone back to using 747s. I used to enjoy the old Evergreen Deluxe class (premium econ) on the 747s. Last trip with Eva was on 777 premium class and seats not so good for me at all. Would rather be in 747 economy with THAI...

Mal/Skippy,
The plan confirms the layout shown on EVA's website and also that there are two galleys and not as I was told, a galley and some more toilets. I'll assume the baby cchanging toilets are the ones near row 45. What do you think Skip?

EVA used 747s between early December and early April from LHR then reverted back to 777s. The 777 aircraft were used on routes from USA during the period.

Whether it was down to the fact that the 747s - (especially since the "upstairs" was turned into economy)could carry more during the busy season I don't know. The combo 747 is used all year round as far as I know so that may explain why one was seen taking off from BKK.
