A word of warning about Etihad based on past bitter experience. I am not sure that they still operate in the same way, but a year or so ago, my wife and I had booked to fly them to Bangkok. We had booked up several months previously and took what we thought was the E-Ticket with the other usual documents. On arrival, we found that what we thought was the E-Ticket was in fact just the flight order confirmation and that unusually in this day and age, Etihad do not use E-Tickets.

Although our names appeared on their flight itinery, although they had evidence that we had paid, although they could obviously check our identities from the passports, they would not let us board without the proper printed tickets. Therefore we missed our flights and had to pay an extra £1200 to fly Thai later that day and reclaim a % of the ticket price, technically as a no show. The direct flight from Heathrow arrived half an hour later than the Etihad stopover flight, although we left England 8 hours later!

They do now. In fact for the last 3 years (apart from once) we have only had e-tickets from Etihad.

You should take up your issues with the agent who sold you the ticket, they will be responsible if they haven't issued a proper ticket. If they don't play ball contact your credit card company. You should be seeking a full refund together with any additional charges you had to pay to Thai to travel that day.

Cant say I've ever had a problem with Etihad. Once due to heavy flooding in BKK I missed the check in time and had to get another flight after about 24 hours - only charged £20 and staff very understanding and helpful.

Excellent Airline. Only had engine trouble once and had to turn back to Ankarra where we were put up in a hotel for 15 hours while they flew some spare parts in from europe. It was a choice between Ankarra or that God foresaken hole Iran, so i think the pilot made the right choice there.Prayer mats are supplied FOC for Arabs who wish to pray to Their God. On my next Etihad flight i was upgraded as compensation for the dodgy engine and spent several hours in the horizontal position in my private "bed", ideal after drinking an enormous amount of Singha for 2 weeks. Thumbs Up Will definetly fly with Etihad again one day!!

As this is Ramadan, I wonder how Etihad are handling their food and beverage service.

It will be an aircraft change. You will be able to buy booze in the airport if you need it on the short stop-over. Etihad are rather generous with their drinks.

Brownhill, Thanks for that info, however when I used the site to book for wife and child, it only allows to book for Adults(12+) and Infants (0-2), there is no option for children, anyone know of a way around this? (The Adult option says specifically 12+ so can't be used for a 4 year old and if selected Infant the date of Birth only allows for 2006,2007 or 2008).

Great Value tickets though!

Perhaps a child pays the same price? Does it ask for an age at booking?

Can my child travel alone on Etihad?
We accept children between the age of 5 and 11 years (up to and including the day prior to their 12th birthday) for unaccompanied travel. All you have to do is submit a completed form (to be collected from your local Etihad office)

This could be your solution ! Book on same flight with another website and pay extra £50.00 per child

It asks for dates of birth which is where I got stumped as I had put Kelly as an infant as no child option and Adult says 12+ then when inputing her date of birth it only allowed 2006,7 and 8!

It's a shame they don't make it clear that children will pay adult fare (or do they not want any children between 2 and 12 on their planes Wink)

I remember being bugged that one of Thai, Nok or Air Asia never used to have an infant option on their web booking, was a right pain when Kelly was 0 to 2! Maybe I need to do the same as what Del Boy did to Rodney's passport on their trip to Spain for Kelly Wink

Booking the child at the adult fare should not be a problem (as no discount or reduced fare is being claimed) - booking her as an infant would cause a problem as she does not qualify for a discounted 'infant' fare.

There is nothing I could see in the fare conditions that said children cannot travel on the fare, so I would have no hesitation booking a child on that 'adult' fare if I were in your shoes.

Thank you, and after all its a very good price considering the UK Tax involved or maybe the Sheik is absorbing it as well as the cheaper fuel for his Airline after all if you own 5% of Ferrari F1/The Chrysler Building etc never mind the Man City Deal and supply 9% of the worlds Oil what is the problem in making your Airline No 1 too in cheap prices as he probably owns Abu Dhabi Airport too.

Anyway if the price is right Etihad will cause many other long haul Airlines problems with passenger numbers so all good news for us passengers Smiler
