Travelled back with gulf the other day. It should have been a pleasant experience with 1140 take off and back at lhr mid evening. Massive overbooking seemed to be the problem. Ended up travelling with thai to muscat and gulf to bahrain and onto london. Although we did get a decent lunch at the airport hotel, it did not compensate for arriving back 9 hours late and wrecking my sleep patern etc and ruining my travel plans etc.
Nothing to resemble an apology or even an explanation. Did not even ask for volunteers. Rubbish airline with minimal food and entertainment that does not work. Thai were not much better.
What annoys was the attitude of the airline staff.
Were this in the US there would have been all sorts of compensation like free up grades etc.
Gulf seem oblivious to compensation for poor service.
Surely they must take some responsibility for overbooking.

I guess that's why they're currently the cheapest airline for most flights to LOS. Shrug

Having travelled to Los some thirty-five times over the years, I have had some bad experiences, Air France were last that over booked, they put me on a Qantas flight and on arrival in the UK paid me £300 compensation and paid for a Taxi home ,for me and the wife, a ninety mile journey .
Most other times I have written to airlines they usually offer you something even if it’s only an apology; the only company that have never responded is Thai airways, who I will not be using again, and having read your post not on gulf either .
