BMI is the only western airline there - I'm not surprised.

Did it mention where BA was?

Not suprising that Thai are slipping down customer surveys.
Their planes are getting long in the tooth, with ancient in flight entertainment systems, esp. on the LON-BKK-LON route.

I never actually quite get reports like this.

I mean, the one time I flew Singapore Airlines, it was great, but not so handy to LOS for many.

It seems the travel plans/destination must come first and then the airlines you can manage it on. In reality, I would be more concsious of cost.

The report may be more meaningful if it reported, of those travelling this route, airline x came out best for a, b, c. Y for d, e, f.

Or does it?

I fully sympathise with Caller here.

These surveys on airline quality must be minded for the kind of frequent travellers who are loaded with money and are mainly concerned with ultimate comfort.

So far, I have flown with BA/Qantas, Singapore Airline and Qatar airways and I honestly cannot distinguish much between them except that you have to change flights in different airports with some of them - in fact what has left the biggest negative impact was the stopover in Doha airport for a couple of hours.

Whether I get a bag of pretzels once or twice on a flight is not something I register. The inflight entertainment in economy matters little as well - the quality may vary but in any case its just something to pass the time.

Ultimately, a pleb like me chooses a flight on cost and I wouldn't dream of paying hundreds of pounds extra just for hot towels or extra cups of orange juice which is about the only difference I can remember from the inflight experiences I have had. Shrug

The survey seems about right to me, except I would also rate the Japanese airlines, especially ANA, but I guess the choice reflects the more common routes flown.

Whilst the in-flight service is important, especially for long haul, I think two other things prioritise my choice of carrier. The first is safety and the second is timeliness. I can't count the number of times I have been delayed with BA and almost worse than that is their indifference to the problem.

Incidentally, in our early courting days, when I travelled from the UK to see Ploy in Thailand, I always travelled via Singapore on Singapore air; I don't recall it costing more than Thai flying direct although it did take about three hours more.

I don't trust Which. On rail their survey method is s follows: think of an extremely complex journey; call 10 railway operators and ask them the fare; if 3 get it wrong produce a report that says "30% of fare enquiries are wrong". Similarly, they mounted a sustained campaign against the channel tunnel saying that it was extremely dangerous and people would burn to death.

Phew, got that off my chest. What was the topic agin?

Where did SAS come, as I will be using them to go to LOS in August?

Their safety record is second to none.

Even in economy they have the business class 'flat' beds.

However the uniform is little severe.

But embarkation is quick and efficient.

It does, but far too much detail for my stubby little sausages to type. If you really want all details I can scan and PM you if you want or put on here if only I knew how! Confused
