Would appreciate people's advice.
Planning to travel to BKK in March.
Left it late once again to book tickets Frowner
Can't find any really great deals for the dates I want.
Best is Qatar indirect, £482, Thai direct £590.
My wife mentioned last time she flew on Thai, there was no in-seat entertainment. We may be sad, but that's a big factor for us in making the flight bearable.
Wondered if anyone could comment on the general comfortability of economy class in Thai, Qatar, Eva, others?
Thanks.

Qatar don't have personal TV's in all of their planes. Emirates do have. Thai need to buy some new planes they are so out dated now, to the modern planes.

Eva Economy do have Seatback TV's with good selection of movies.
Etihad Economy although non-direct have Seatback touchscreen TV's, with a great range of movie choice.

Cheers

Another vote for Etihad here - excellent in-flight entertainment system with a great choice of new and classic movies, TV shows documentaries, music & games.

Worst was Lufthansa - 10hr Frankfurt to BKK on ancient 747s last May and the only entertainment was two movies on two drop down screens in the ceiling (food & drink service was awful too) - will never use them again!

Your wife is right Thai Air do not have In-Seat Entertainment.

I would go with EVA personally, never had a problem with them and they have the in-seat entertainment

if you dont mind a stopover, my vote goes for Etihad. The entertainment systems were excellent and kept both kids and adults amused for most of the flight. The best thing was nose cone and landing gear cameras.

oan............i,m in los at the moment and got the flight booked at the last min. you need to try all of the sites repeating it as often as you can at different times. the odd bargain will pop up sometimes. I got 441 with gulf despite half term and the service was so so but i managed to blag bulk head seats with a bit more leg room and slept most of the way. Bahrain seems to have picked up a bit. Lovely old fashioned service at the airport. Just bear with it. I try them all but still seem to end up with a/l network. bear in mind the start and finish times, whats good for you ? .

Thanks everyone - great advice. Went with Qatar in the end - £482 each. Hope we get the planes with screens!

Qatar have always been good for me in the past, the short stopover in Doha sometimes feels a little too short, don't get caught thinking you have time to relax in queues, mention that you are on a connecting flight. Only other thing that immediately springs to mind is the toilets, completely out of contrast to the rest of the airport Wink If not used to Thai/Asian style squat style loos, they do have European style further down the loo queue. Anyone caught with the Delhi (Airline food) belly might appreciate that.

My airline of choice though has to be EVA Air, only once had a bad experience due to non EVA ground Crew and even then EVA made it good. Haven't used the refitted 747's though, anyone used them and care to comment.

Whichever airline choosen, always apply for their loyalty program, in the long term you can get some real benefits.

As a postscript to the above thread, both Gulf Air and Qatar frequent flyer cards give you an extra 10kg's of check in baggage.

I like BA and they have personal IFE.

And flights to Bangkok all depart from Terminal 4 so you miss out on the fiasco that is T5.

I was lead to believe that ALL BA flights go from T5 now (stand to be corrected).

And eventually they will go to T3 so no flights to Bangkok will go from T5 at all.
