just a quick reccomendation for an amazing place down in Trang province.... http://www.komooksivalai.com/

we stayed here for 1 night in november last year (quite expensive!), and loved it, so came back for 5 more nights last month Wink and a good price in low season too haha

for somewhere totally relaxed and chilled out, it's hard to beat! and a small village you can walk to, for some "real" food, at real prices.

some pics... http://www.flickr.com/photos/mal_1972/sets/72157605465935624/ and.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/mal_1972/sets/72157604127127874/

Thanks for the info Mal and for the photo links-looks like you had to battle to find a place on those crowded beaches. Smiler

That all looks tremendous, Mal. What sort of discounts did you manage to get?

I would also recommend Koh Kood...about 45 mins by speedboat departing from Trat City anyways.
If you like tranquility and beautiful landscapes/beaches/snorkelling etc this is a great place to visit.
Stayed for 2 nights 3 days in January.
I think I paid about 5000B each;but meals, speedboat and trips are included. Thumbs Up
The wife knew a couple of people who worked at the resort and the Trat ice factory(resort owners);some of them used to work for her dad in his rice factory;so we were made to feel very welcome indeed.

Think i paid abt 2500/night. And this was for a family villa (quoted at 4500 on website). I was told a quoted abt 3000 at first, but then got extra discount for being there before.

I think there are abt 21 villas there, but only 3, yep 3, were occupied when we were there. So they were glad for the business i'm sure.

Thank goodness this isn't the Thai-German forum. The place would be overrun within days.
